You didn’t think this was the end, did you?” God asked, waving toward the shadowy world. “This is the in-between step. After death and before . . .” That tone seemed a direct contrast to the man beside him: a vagabond, a mountain man wearing the Lord Ruler’s face. This is what you really are, Kelsier thought. But that didn’t help. It was only further proof that the Eleventh Metal wasn’t what Kelsier had once hoped. The metal was no magical solution for ending the Lord Ruler. He would have to rely instead upon his other plan.

The Shards,” Khriss said, drawing ____’s attention, “are not God, but they are pieces of God. Ruin, Preservation, Autonomy, Cultivation, Devotion . . . There are sixteen of them.”Some of those lights moved. He frowned, stepping toward one, and only then did he recognize that many of the lights were people. He saw each as an intense white glow radiating out from a human form. Nearby, an unfortunate skaa woman lurched into the afterlife, then almost immediately faded. Her figure stretched, transforming to a white mist that was pulled toward a distant, dark point. That was how it looked, at least, though the point she stretched toward wasn’t a place—not really. It was . . . Beyond. A location that was somehow distant, pointing away from him no matter where he moved.

The Ire live in the Cognitive Realm and maintain a fortress at the edge of the Scadrian subastral. They are accompanied by a large complement of guards, led by a captain. The guards wear white-blue tabards and carry pikes. They do not have the ancient appearance of the Ire, nor are they Elantrians. However, they have fair skin and speak the same language as the Ire, implying that they are also of Aonic heritage. [4] I think that rule—building something up, rather than tearing something down—is an even more difficult task than than overthrowing an enemy. We begin this book with Elend Venture on the throne, and Kelsier’s former crew forming his most trusted advisors and government officials. The city is under siege from Straff Venture, Elend’s father, a vicious tyrant. In one sense, the novel is about Elend, Vin, and the rest of the team struggling with politics and armies as they try not to lose control of the city. The novella follows the story of Kelsier from Mistborn: The Final Empire and concludes with the events of the last book in the original trilogy, The Hero of Ages. After being killed by the Lord Ruler, Kelsier meets Preservation as he is about to pass on to the spiritual realm. Kelsier refuses to do so and races to the Well of Ascension at the heart of the Lord Ruler's palace, touching its power and thus anchoring himself to the world. Whilst trapped at the Well, he discovers another entity trapped there: Ruin, the counterpart to Preservation, who intends to destroy the world. Fantasy trilogies are so common that it’s sometimes hard to decide which ones to recommend above the others. I have no problem recommending this one. Critical MassBut some of my favorite parts were seeing little bits of the original trilogy from a different perspective. I had a few questions sometimes throughout Mistborn 1-3 about what Preservation was doing and why a few scenes happened a certain way, but with this Novella it totally makes more sense. The original trilogy is totally complete with just what is in it but this added a new layer and depth like her is what Sanderson was thinking but he can’t tell you that since it would give too much away. A glowing figure surged from the fleeing masses and grabbed Vin. Was that Ham? Had to be, with that profile. Kelsier stood up and watched them withdraw. He had set plans in motion for them. Perhaps they would hate him for that.

He will be writing it in a similar manner to the first trilogy, writing all three books before publishing so that he could properly foreshadow and edit past books. [13] [14] He is greatly looking forward to writing book ten. [15] These will be returning to the length of the Mistborn Era One books. The third era of Mistborn is slated to be written after the first arc of the Stormlight Archive wraps up.Set about 300 years after Era 1, the Wax and Wayne series is about the exploits of Waxillium Ladrian, a "wild-west Deputy" forced to move into the big city who starts investigating kidnappings and robberies.

Those experiences faded and seemed to grow cold. One of the lights from the mass of fleeing people—it was hard to make out individuals, with everyone alight—scrambled toward him. At first he thought perhaps this person had seen his spirit. But no, they ran to his corpse and knelt. Fortunately, before I died, I put a plan into motion. I can't remember it, but I’m certain that it was brilliant. Kelsier: The famed Survivor of Hathsin, a half-skaa Mistborn who led a revolution against the Lord Ruler. At the novella's beginning, Kelsier is killed by the Lord Ruler but refuses to pass on to the Beyond, and instead becomes trapped in the Cognitive Realm, between the Physical and Spiritual realms. The Ire's fortress is located in the Cognitive Realm at the very edge of the subastral of Scadrial, near the space between planets. [21] [22] The corresponding location in the Physical Realm is somewhere in the ocean beyond the Farmost Dominance in the northwest of the Final Empire. [19] It is made of white stones—actually the souls of stones—that glow with a faint, constant blue light. [4] The conduit that connects the fortress to the Dor provides the power needed for the fortress to have permanence in the Cognitive Realm, as the power can be seen coursing through the entire building. [4] It is beautiful and somehow inviting; it is the Ire's most well-constructed facility, [2] and is nearly as large a city. [4] [10] It has numerous windows, with some being narrow, like an arrow slit. The interior of the fortress has stone corridors and multiple large chambers. It also has living quarters for its residents, including bedrooms. Guards keep watch from the roof of the fortress looking for Cognitive Shadows, particularly those from Threnody. [4] Horses are also kept in the fortress. [12] Magical Artifacts [ edit ]Ah, child,” Kelsier said. “I’m sorry.” He reached out and cupped Vin’s face as she wept over him, and found he could feel her. She was solid to his ethereal fingers. She didn’t seem able to feel his touch, but he caught a vision of her from the real world, cheeks stained with tears. a b c d e f g h Mistborn: Secret History part 1chapter 1 Summary: Mistborn: Secret History/Part_1/Chapter_1 #
