This is a wonderful story about the relationships between different generations of women within the same family. The conflicts and emotions are real and raw and you’ll find yourself relating to so many arguments and points of tension. Full of such warmth and kindness, and the writing is utterly beautiful. She’s inspired a lot of Grace’s characteristics: that kind of attitude to life, getting on with it and making do and mend. So yeah, I took a lot of inspiration from my mum’s attitude to life!

Female characters that cross over many generations always makes for a great read, and in this novel from Ruth Jones, her latest that is no exception. Another classic from Ruth Jones. She has this ability to make you believe you are living the life of all the characters. The good and the bad. The flawed the messed up parts alongside the highs.
