Utilising a Roc Loc 5 retention system, the Cinder is close to Giro’s best-fitting helmet thanks in part to the MIPS cradle system slotting in behind the foam padding. To be exact, it claims that it saves 60 seconds over 100-miles at 25mph compared to the existing Vanquish, 160 seconds over the Aether climbing helmet, and nearly 14 seconds over the ‘closest competitor’. The clever magnetic system keeps the visor secure while keeping it easy enough to remove on the fly with it also sitting neatly on the top of the helmet when flipped around.

The colour I tested (Citron/white) didn't help as it gave the Vanquish the look of a very cheap safety helmet. The inner and outer shells slide over each other using stretchy connectors, rather than just using a sliding inner cradle. When you do want to remove the eye shield, you just grab it – one handed is fine – flip it over and stick it to the outside of the helmet.
