Description

Special care must be taken when cleaning all breastfeeding equipment. Use Milton Sterilising Fluid and Tablets to sterilise breastpump parts, nipple shields, breast shells and breast milk storage equipment.

Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health. Ensure that all milk residues are removed from bottles and teats before you sterilise, otherwise the bottles won’t be fully sterile and bacteria could remain in the teat. Remember that milk is the ideal environment for bacteria to grow which is why special care must be taken when washing baby bottles. All baby accessories can be cleaned and sterilised using the Milton Method : bottles, soothers, teething rings, small plastic toys, plastic bibs and weaning items. Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus - or MRSA as it is more commonly known, is a form of the staphylococcus bacteria that have become very resistant to antibiotics. To be able to protect against MRSA, it is imperative that as much as possible is understood about the bacteria and its activity. Don’t forget to give a regular clean to your baby's potty, bath, high chair, changing table and plastic mattress. A Milton solution made up with either Tablets or Fluid can be a handy way to keep all your baby’s equipment perfectly clean!Use Milton in the nursery to protect baby's things from harmful germs - 40 ml Milton and 1 litre water - Disinfect bibs, wipe down edges of cots, waterproof sheets and covers. Also soak plastic, wooden and rubber toys. SABS tested and approved. Milton protects kitchen cloths and surfaces from bacteria - 40 ml Milton and 1 litre water - Disinfect kitchen surface with a regular wipe down with, the solution. Also soak kitchen cloths as long as required. SABS tested and approved. Because infant formula can sometimes contain bacteria, it is important to make up each feed as your baby needs it, using boiled water (temperature 70°C or above). The hot water will ensure that any harmful bacteria get killed. Always remember to let the feed cool before giving it to baby. Use the measuring well provided in the Milton sterilising unit to measure out Milton or use 2 capfuls of Milton to 4 L of cold water.

Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication. Both MRSA and Staphylococcus aureus are particularly vulnerable to disinfectants and the application of simple hygiene routines will do much to prevent their spread. On ingestion - may cause temporary discomfort - if swallowed give large amounts of water, get medical attention. Sometimes baby food can stain heavily and make it hard to get your whites looking spotless. To whiten bibs, bodysuits and linen use Milton Sterilising Fluid. It is always best to try cleaning a small area first to ensure you're happy with the result. Clean your immediate surroundings regularly - particularly when away from the home and travelling.. Applications are endless and include disinfecting areas such as public toilet seats, door handles, high chairs, caravans etcOnce you have sterilised baby bottles, don’t leave them out for long periods of time on work surfaces before using them. As they stay out, bacteria will slowly contaminate them again. You can either leave them in a Milton Sterilising Solution, or in a closed Milton Combi Steriliser for 24 hours, or in your fridge (with the lid and teat on) at a minimum of 4°C temperature. Put baby's bottles and teats in the Milton solution. Make sure all items are completely covered by the solution. Remove any trapped air bubbles in the bottles. Place lid on and leave for at least 30 minutes.
