She's definitely not a damsel-in-distress, but being vulnerable and imperiled is her recurring theme. Who knew all it would take was for Ilsa and Charlotte to cease pressing Strike about the elephant in the room to spur him into action?

The first plot (which is the plot of the series, as opposed to any particular book) is the Strike/Robin romance. I felt that this is the best of the series so far - I wasn’t particularly keen that the novel was focused on cults at first (I get a bit squeamish tbh), but this book was far better in terms of pacing and coherence of the plot than the previous two.Dieses schockierende Urteil fällt mir selbst sehr schwer, weil ich alles erwartet hatte, nur nicht, dass es im Ranking bei mir weiter unten liegen würde. As a result of their previous successes, business partners Strike and Robin now employ three contract investigators and an office manager. We join proceedings in the early 2016, in the run-up to the EU Referendum, where the pair have just been approached by Sir Colin Edensor, regarding his son, Will, who appears to have been recruited by the Universal Humanitarian Church, the UHC.

Der Vater eines UHC-Mitglieds wendet sich indes an das Privatermittlerteam Cormoran Strike und seine Geschäftspartnerin Robin Ellacott, weil er seinen Sohn Will aus den Fängen dieser Sekte befreien möchte. Eight months into the relationship, [Murphy] should surely have stopped pretending he’d rather watch a play than have a decent meal followed by sex. One woman is described as a power-hungry seductress who “took a used condom out of the bin” to try to get pregnant by the man she was having an affair with – I kid you not. There’s a cast of thousands (I exaggerate, but it seems that way), subplots and backstories galore, and a host of interviews as the detective duo pursue their task of rescuing a wealthy client’s son from the clutches of a sinister religious sect.In The Running Grave, Cormoran and Robin's romantic relationship appears to continue to be at an impasse as, through pure stubbornness at this point, Robin is now in a relationship with a police officer, Ryan Murphy, while Cormoran pursues a couple of meaningless encounters to distract him from his love for his work partner. Oonagh Kennedy – Margot's long-time friend, whom she was supposed to be meeting when she disappeared. Then there’s Nobel laureate Jon Fosse’s magnum opus Septology, another Booker-shortlisted novel, which in the Giramondo edition has 752 pages. The Running Grave is the latest instalment in JK Rowling's Strike series, which follows private detectives Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott as they investigate various crimes at the request of their clients – while nursing requited (but unspoken) feelings for one another. No doubt, now that I know the storyline, I can go back and selectively re-read only those parts that are interesting to me, but it means that for this book, I will be skipping over more than half of it.
