B.J. Novak (Ryan) and Mindy Kaling (Kelly) were writers and actors on the show. Paul Lieberstein, (Toby in HR) was a writer without any acting experience and no desire to be an actor. He was written into the show and continued to be included in the show because his deadpan face worked well with Steve Carell's (Michael Scott's) antics.

I haven’t listened to their podcast yet, but I already know I will love it! This book was upbeat, honest and full of so many fun stories and insights. Families can talk about the award-winning British comedy upon which The Office is based. How do the two compare, and which do you prefer? What types of changes were made to the plot and characters in altering the series for an American audience? Appropriately subtitled “Tales of The Office from Two Best Friends Who Were There,” Jenna and Angela recount landing their roles of Pam and Angela, the start of the show, funny stories from filming throughout the show, and its well-done, emotional finale. ⁣ Other than Steve Carell, the cast of The Office were primarily starving artists who had small acting parts and were struggling to eke out a living. They all became great friends and several of them had known each other. As an example, John Krasinski (Jim) and B.J. Novak (Ryan) grew up in the same MA neighborhood. Angela and Kate Flannery (Meredith) had done stand up improv at the same venue. This book made me so nostalgic and brought such joy to my Office-loving heart! It was so wonderful to hear first-hand accounts of working on The Office and the bond the cast and crew had. I laughed so much while listening and probably had a smile on my face the entire time. For the most part, corporate culture is portrayed as dysfunctional and grossly inefficient. Overarching message that you can be completely incompetent and still keep your job, as long as you're loyal to the company. But there's also a lot of heart, teamwork, and self-control -- as well as love and friendship -- on display. Each week Jenna and Angela will break down an episode of The Office and give exclusive behind the scene stories that only two people who were there, can tell you. Oh, I loved this book. I listened to the audiobook which Jenna and Angela read, and there are SO MANY FUN SURPRISES!

The Office BFFs: Tales of The Office From Two Best Friends Who Were There' by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey is out May 17. Dey Street Books I liked The Office when it was airing live but I’ve come to love it in the past few years as a true comfort show. I know which episode it is in the first 30 seconds but that usually doesn’t stop me from rewatching or laughing like it’s one of my first 3-4 times seeing the episode. Some incidents are played for comedy, such as an employee getting injured on the job and having to be hospitalized, punching a wall, getting slapped, etc. Characters comment on a woman's breasts and make inappropriate jokes about her body.

If you didn’t watch the office you’re going to be bored though, it’s def not the book for people who didn’t watch. So I was bound to love this book—and I did. I loved reading about the experience Jenna and Angela had while making it. I loved hearing about their relationships with the cast and crew. I felt like I was right there with them on the set—and in a very small way, a part of their amazing friendship. Core characters are a mixed bag, with plenty of flaws and foibles, but most mean well. At least a handful seem to actually like their jobs. Jim and Pam are kind and can be relatable. Dwight is extremely loyal to the company, sometimes to a fault. Michael tries his best to have his team deliver excellence. Jenna Fischer is best known for playing Pam Beesly on the acclaimed television show The Office for which she received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress and two SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Comedy.

Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey on The Office BFFs book

Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day. Sharing everything from what it was like in the early days as the show struggled to gain traction, to walking their first red carpet—plus exclusive stories on the making of milestone episodes and how their lives changed when they became moms—The Office BFFs is full of the same warm and friendly tone Jenna and Angela have brought to their Office Ladies podcast. Read by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey with exclusive bonus material contributed by Rainn Wilson, Creed Bratton, Oscar Nunez, Brian Baumgartner, Steve Carell, Ed Helms, Ellie Kemper, Kate Flannery and Jennifer Garner. How do the characters on The Office demonstrate self-control and teamwork? Why are these important character strengths? The Office is one of my all time favorite shows so when this book came out, I knew I needed to read it. I’m so happy I did.It was a pleasure for us to make the show, and I think because of that, it is a pleasure to watch." With The Office being one of my all time favorite comedy TV series, The Office BFFs went straight on my tbr the minute I heard about it. I had read The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom on the 2000's two years ago and really enjoyed it, and I had a feeling I would like this book even more. One character has an ongoing problem with alcohol (played for laughs), occasionally getting drunk at office functions where it's served. Another has a history of drug use and still uses marijuana, etc. References to cocaine, and it's implied that one of the characters sells illegal drugs. My wife and I absolutely love this show. We were scrolling through Netflix and stumbled across it, at first we were like "How can you make a 9 season show about an office" but we decided to watch the first episode. We literally ended up watching all 9 seasons in under 4 weeks. We loved it so much we have started to call each other Jim and Pam. If you are bored and can't find a show this is your answer. JENNA FISCHER is best known for her portrayal of Pam Beesly on all nine seasons of The Office, for which she received an Emmy nomination in 2007. Fischer can also be seen in such films as Blades of Glory, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. After The Office, she had leading roles in sitcoms, You, Me and the Apocalypse and Splitting Up Together. Currently, she writes, produces and co-hosts “Office Ladies” podcast with Angela Kinsey. Fischer's first book, The Actor's Life: A Survival Guide, with an introduction by Steve Carell, was published in November 2017.
