Painter (Betting on You) delivers a charmer of a rom-com with this lively tale of professional wedding objectors.

The book is dual POV, which usually I like, but in this case, we are flipping back and forth multiple times in the same chapter, sometimes after only a couple paragraphs, which is extremely disorienting and lazy. yes’ he swallowed and said, ‘i can't drive by a burger king without thinking of french fries in bed; i can't hear a british person speak without remembering your fucking awful accent; i can't see a diamond ad without picturing your stupid grinning face at the borsheim's counter; and i can't hear my phone buzz without wishing it would be some asinine text from you.

he was fiery, had problematic sense of passion, temperamental, obsessive, and overly spontaneous (to the point where it was harmful. During this dating process, they will be each other’s wing-person, arranging the dates at the same place. if jack had just admitted to his feelings early on instead of teetering around the fact that he kinda, sorta thought he was in love with her– this entire book would have been over quicker and there wouldn’t have been such a dramatic ending.

What follows is a one-night stand that morphs into friendship, a dating app, lots of witty banter, attraction, chemistry, tacos, and one heck of a journey! i finished this book on may twenty-sixth and i took some time to process everything i read and my full thoughts on it. In this fictional hellscape are people going around with their college transcripts and IQ score stapled to their forehead? My gripe with the ending is that it felt like Jack took all the heat for how things went down, and I think both characters were equally at fault. Wrong Number series if you like witty, sarcastic humor, romance with some extra spice, and a light, fun time.also both of these characters NEVER learn from their previous mistakes– i cannot stress to you how many times it was discussed that jack’s spontaneous nature was a problem. Through the app they become friends, and they decide to go on dates at the same time, so they can back each other up if the dates go wrong. Painter’s cute adult debut (after the YA novel Better Than the Movies) features a couple whose chemistry via text message complicates their IRL relationship. Lynn Painter lives with her husband and pack of wild children in Nebraska, where she is a weekly contributor to the Omaha World-Herald and an avid fan of napping. But when she logs into the dating app to look for new love, she finds none other than Jack: the guy whose hotel room she'd snuck out of.

When Hallie goes to the app to find someone, she finds Jack, the man with who she spent a one-night stand that made up her mind to change herself.Hallie's POV doesn't start off much better: she gets mad at Jack for asking her manager if she can work a bar in the back and accuses him of being blatantly sexist. I remember reading one of Lynn Painter's YA books before and really enjoyed so I'm glad to see she transitioned into into adult romance quite nicely. Beyond that, FMC is just completely and totally unlikeable, obstinate, and contrarian, and MMC is not much better.
