As revealed yesterday on Anime News Network, Trigun will be getting the Deluxe Hardcover treatment from Dark Horse! Followed by Trigun Maximum! Madhouse produced a television anime adaptation of the manga that aired for 26 episodes in Japan in 1998. Trigun centers on the story of Vash the Stampede, a mysterious pacifist gunslinger who wanders the desert planet of Gunsmoke on a personal quest for redemption and absolution from the mistakes of his past. With the help of his friends Meryl Stryfe, Milly Thompson, and a cross-toting assassin priest named Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Vash must fight to save humanity from his twin brother, “Millions Knives,” and his army of ruthless henchmen. The two hardcovers are the latest Trigun-related releases from Dark Horse. The publisher first released the two volumes of the initial Trigun series in 2003 and 2004, and the fourteen volumes of Trigun Maximum between 2004 and 2009. Both the original series and Maximum have also gotten softcover omnibus releases in a 5″ x 7″ trim size. The deluxe editions will see both series presented in a 7″ x 10″ format for the first time.

The Trigun Stampede anime premiered on January 7 and ended on March 25. A final phase of the anime has been green-lit.

Nightow originally published his beloved series in Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Captain from April 1995 to January 1997, with the sequel appearing in Shōnen Gahosha's Young King OURs from October 1997 until March 2007. The story follows a notorious gunman named Vash the Stampede; rumored to be a ruthless killer, Vash, in actuality, is a pacifistic goofball. In 1998, studio Madhouse ( One-Punch Man) adapted Nightow's story into a 26-episode series and a tie-in movie, Trigun: Badlands Rumble. The show became a cornerstone of 1990s anime culture alongside other classics like Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Z. The first Trigun Deluxe Edition is expected to ship out on December 19, 2023, and it collects Volumes 1 and 2 in a 7×10-inch format.
