Summon The Shattered Star: Sadu will summon six copies of her staff that will begin casting a ring AoE centered on each staff. The ring AoEs will overlap in such a way that the center of each ring will be unsafe, meaning you will need to move into a small sliver between the outer rings where the AoEs do not overlap. The title of the book riffs off two things. The first is the darkness that descends as Jesus dies. The second is a line from the German philosopher Hegel that ‘the owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with the falling of dusk.’ Hegel means something like history only comes to understand itself at the end – much like we perhaps only understand the significance of our individual lives as we approach death. In The Falling of Dusk, I want to explore how we might come to understand the meaning of faith, doubt, and the human condition in the preternatural dusk that falls on the cross. What made you decide to write this book? Why now? Dusk occurs as the sun makes its descent below the horizon, marking the end of the day. It's a time when the brightness of the day gradually fades, ushering in the first signs of evening. This phase, known as twilight, can be divided into three segments: civil, nautical, and astronomical dusk, each representing a different degree of light and occurring at distinct times after sunset. G'raha Tia has busied himself investigating the nearby residences, and his findings strongly suggest that much, if not all of the local populace, has been tempered. Without any villagers present to verify this theory, however, the current evidence can only be considered circumstantial at best. However, even the small portion of sunlight that is still scattered across the sky before the moment of astronomical dusk may hinder astronomers from observing some of the fainter stars and galaxies. Popular UsageIt is to Stan Grant's credit that his chosen title is - amazingly - a succinct summary of his book. Only when one has read it, does one fully appreciate his scholarship, erudition and breadth of thought. The title references "Minerva's Owl" [I had to look it up], Hegel, the end of history and much else. Grant generously draws on his own personal history and remarkable career as a journalist (CNN and ABC) to describe life in various volatile 'trouble spots' in the middle east as well as China and South Africa to give an overview of several important current international crises while offering a useful-enough historical context to each of them. I think people have always been ready for it, we just didn’t let them do it. Either the controls are in the way or the games are only single-player. I hope people can enter the book with a sense of hospitality, openness, and charity to views that they may not ordinarily find themselves inclined to welcome at first. That is true for those who read it as people of faith as it is for those who read it with a sceptical attitude about religion. I hope people come ready to struggle with questions about faith, belief, and doubt without predetermined conclusions. I hope people come ready to be disrupted. The ocean horizon becomes indistinct during this phase, which is crucial for sailors as it marks the point where navigation via the horizon at sea becomes more challenging. Aimed at those who embrace, reject, or are uncertain about faith, Paul invites us to reflect in unconventional ways on our assumptions, anxieties, suspicions, and beliefs through a conventional Lenten form of meditation.I think it’s just that I as a game designer and a creative have matured. As Dusk Falls is my first game as a creative director, so I make all the shots. I really did the story I love with characters that are flawed and human and interesting to me, but I think when you see people play they are relatable real life people you could have met in your own life. The thing that was really important in terms of setting and story is that it’s really grounded. There’s no zombies or fantastic element, it’s all about real life. In an age of uncertainty and suspicion, Paul Dominiak's new book, The Falling of Dusk, explores how each of the seven last words of Jesus on the Cross attends to doubt as the refining fire of faith, rather than as its enemy. After defeating all three Khun Shavar, then depleting Sadu's health bar, the fight will move into phase 4. The genesis of the book was in my teaching on the Theology Tripos and in various discussion groups over the years at Trinity College and Jesus College. In academic supervisions and informal discussion groups, I have loved exploring with students of all faiths and none the relationship and tension between faith and doubt. Those conversations fed into and shaped the content and the tone of this book, which seeks to move beyond the polemical binary between faith and anti-theism to a more constructive and mutually enriching conversation. Since religious belief has not died away to be replaced by secularism, as it was once predicted to do, but continues to play a major global role, it feels timely to explore how we all might better learn to understand religious belief, and how religious belief might be chastened and refined by doubt.
