Description

These naturals are showcased in shareable fragrances which often put individual notes in the spotlight: zesty lemon, in Citron Citron, cooling green Tangerine Vert, dark and velvety Rose en Noir, with its rich notes of Turkish Rosa Damascena. Working today with perfumers like Matthieu Nardin (read our ‘Nose’ interview with him here) – creator of the stunning Étui Noir and Lumière Dorée – Miller Harris has an ability to capitalise on the uncanny power of certain smells to evoke particular memories. It’s a truly ‘artisanal’ way of creating fragrances… Our first average we look at for Miller Harris Citron Citron Eau De Parfum is to judge it against other products from the same brand, in this case it’s Miller Harris. This tells us that there are a total of 30 Miller Harris products at Fragrancedirect. However, we then like to go a little deeper to explore more detail about the product by looking at products in the same category as Miller Harris Citron Citron Eau De Parfum. That then tells us that there are 2327 products in the Cosmetics & Skincare category at Fragrancedirect.

As Miller Harris puts it: ‘We honour nature by sourcing the finest raw materials and preserving the delicacy of our ingredients, then curate, combine and harmonise them to create perfumes that combine Parisian elegance with London’s eclectic street styles.’ Miller Harris L’Air de Rien, fascinatingly, was originally a bespoke creation for Jane Birkin, who had never found a fragrance she really loved – and (unusually) went on to become part of the Miller Harris portfolio, becoming a huge hit (and something of a cult, in France!) Harris has worked with various brands throughout her career, including Claus Porto, Fresh, LEGENDÄR, Maison Trudon, Perfumer H, Solange Azagury-Partridge, and Vyrao. Some of her most popular fragrances include Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac, Miller Harris La Fumée, and Miller Harris Noix de Tubéreuse. Growing up in Yorkshire and Scotland, Harris was surrounded by the natural beauty of the British countryside. This early exposure to the scents and landscapes of her homeland would later inspire her approach to fragrance creation, focusing on the use of natural ingredients and the evocation of vivid sensory experiences. When Lyn Harris launched Miller Harris in 2000, she helped to put independent British perfumery on the map. And Miller Harris is now a name loved – and worn – by perfume-lovers the world over. In their own stores, you can even enjoy a ‘Bespoke Shopping Experience’, to help you identify your ‘perfect’ Miller Harris fragrance – or more than one. As they explain: ‘Scent layering means mixing and matching scents with complementary ingredients, elevating the fragrant journey and creating depth to your scent.’ In 2012, London-based private equity fund Neo Capital invested in Miller Harris, propelling the brand to greater heights. However, by 2014, Harris shifted her focus to a new venture while remaining a consultant and shareholder for Miller Harris. In 2015, she launched Perfumer H, a new fragrance brand that would further showcase her creative prowess. And significantly, Miller Harris continues its collaboration with Robertet, using the finest quality raw materials, to create a unique and personal journey for each and every wearer.

Passionate about perfumery, Harris moved to Paris to train under Monique Schlienger, a renowned perfumer. Upon completing her training, Harris further honed her skills by working with Robertet, a prestigious fragrance house in Grasse, the world's perfume capital. This experience equipped her with the expertise and knowledge needed to establish her own fragrance brand.Everything is also eminently ‘shareable’ – often loved equally by men and women alike. (We’re delighted to have showcased several Miller Harris creations in our own Perfume Society Discovery Boxes – why not, for instance, explore Vetiver Insolent in our Scent of a Man curation here…?) The Perfumer’s Library is an exclusive collection which plunders Lyn Harris’s own archive: a ‘library’, which includes fragrances she kept for herself. Explore La Feuille (2009), ‘the ivy that intertwines around the woods that filled my childhood’, as she revealed. Le Jasmin captures ‘an exotic garden in Morocco, late October just before the sun was falling’ (2010). And we love Veti Vert, playing up all the facets of Haitian vetiver – earthy, bitter, smoky, green and fresh, all at once. Craft & Glamour10ml EDP - Announced by fresh bergamot, pink berries, a glamourous rose and fruity plum. Exotic patchouli sits among lacquered woods, cashmere and sandalwood at the heart and settles onto plush Tonka bean, Musk and Cistuseo at the base. This opens with a burst of refreshing, zesty citrus, mostly lemon with a twist of lime, to my nose. And although other notes come along to join this accord, l find it's sustained for the duration of the fragrance on my skin, something that few citrus fragrances manage to achieve. Mint & basil come along within the first five minutes, & all of these notes are very clear & natural-smelling, with not a hint of household cleaning products or air fresheners. One hour in, the cardamom adds a subtle spicy warmth without ever turning curry-like, & then later the cedarwood grounds it all without obliterating the freshness of the citrus-herbal accord. Others have remarked on poor longevity here, & it's true that it settles quite close to the skin after the first few minutes, but for me it's still clearly present for many hours when l sniff my arm, only beginning to fade around nine hours in. Chances are you probably know all there is to know about Fragrancedirect, but if you don’t then here’s a little more detail about them. Essentially, Miller Harris breathes colour and life into the classic perfumer’s art, with complex fragrances ‘designed to tell vivid urban stories.’ They start with nature – with distinct greens and woods, with carefully sourced floral notes, iris from Florence, French violet leaf, jasmine from Egypt, Tunisian orange flower – but frame these precious botanicals in complex and unconventional ways. Citron Citron by Miller Harris is a Citrus fragrance for women and men. Citron Citron was launched in 2000. The nose behind this fragrance is Lyn Harris. Top notes are lime, orange and sicilian lemon; middle notes are mint and basil; base notes are spices, cedar, oakmoss and cardamom.
