The worse of it all is that Prince Kai—the male lead—claims to be a monster (because it’s a first-person narration) to then spare the life of a little girl because ‘he doesn’t kill children’. Also, the mean girl trope with no real backstory or motivations outside of jealousy is so tiring and dated. It doesn't really matter if she's actually a bitch or not, that's just a loaded word especially coming from a man and especially coming from a man you don't know.

ALLSOOOO this is so tiny I'm sorry but the fact that they have bananas in this setting just makes me believe that there was some equivalent of the Banana Wars in this fantasy world.
