Hay cosas que se han quedado en el aire y no sé si lo que sale en la serie es información verdadera que sucede después de que Rae terminara el año 1989 o se lo inventan totalmente. ¡La autora debería haber dicho algo!

Overall, this was just laugh-out-loud riotous, and filled with the exact amount of longing and angst that any teenage girl experiences. I needed to let off steam pretty much religiously every day! There might be four or five entries in one day, and maybe just one in another. There was also a separate book of poetry, and several sheets of paper with just random rants on as well. I wouldn't necessarily take my diary to school, so I'd need to get a bit of paper and rant on that. So sometimes there was a little bit and sometimes there was a lot. I didn’t like the end. At all. Throughout the diary Rae waffled between wanting to lose weight so boys would like her and wanting to find a boy who liked her for who she was. I personally thought she trended more toward the latter more often than not. So when the ending came and the boy she was mega-crushing on basically says if you weren’t fat we’d totally be together, and she gets all swoony, I’m like WTF? This type of thing irritated her to no end throughout the book but have the same words come out of the mouth of the boy she’s mooning over and somehow he has a point? I really didn’t like that. Siempre dicen que los libros son mejores que las películas (en este caso la serie TV). Pero aquí no es el caso, el libro se torna aburrido y repetitivo en muchos momentos. There are two main problems for Rae during the series: the obstacles she faces because of her weight, and the obstacles she faces in her discovery of sex, love and friendship. In Episode 2, Rae has her first sexual experience when she kisses Archie. However, he later turns out to be gay and nothing romantic happens between them for the remainder of the series.

I live in Hobart, in Tasmania. I've been married for 13 years, I've got a little boy, and I would say I'm a fairly well-adjusted 41-year-old woman. I'd say my story is very, very happy, and my demons are tethered, and if they ever start playing around, I make them work for me. That's partly where the diary came from. The first episode of the third and final series attracted 548,000 viewers on E4, whilst the second episode attracted 537,000 viewers. The final episode of the series attracted 450,000 viewers. All viewing figures exclude those who watched on All 4 and on E4+1. First of all, I would say that I enjoyed the writing of the book (composed in journal entries). It was a very relevant and realistic teenage voice, that was relate able and sometimes hilarious. Unfortunately, this was the only thing that I really enjoyed about the book, and I kept reading only really because I found the writing easy and fun to read. In some parts of the book I did really seem to connect with Rae, like when Harry asked her out because he felt sorry for her and when Bethany was being a downright cow. I really felt sorry for Rae then, because it must have been tough, and I could actually imagine myself in her position. It's these parts of the book that made it difficult to put down.

Set in Stamford, Lincolnshire in the mid-1990s, My Mad Fat Diary follows the story of 16-year-old, 16 stone (106 kg) (233 lb) girl, Rae Earl, who has just left a psychiatric hospital, where she has spent four months. [4] She begins to reconnect with her best friend, Chloe, who is unaware of Rae's mental health and body image problems, believing she has been in France for the past four months. Rae attempts to keep this information from her while also trying to impress Chloe's friends Finn, Archie, Izzy and Chop. Brian Semple of The Independent calls the show "surprisingly honest, funny and even moving account of what it’s like for a teenage girl to live with serious mental health problems, free of many of the clichés that often inform how mental illness is portrayed on TV," going on to say that Rae "has a mental illness, but it doesn't define her. It's just something that she has to deal with and try to manage on a daily basis, just like the one in ten young people in the UK who have a mental illness." Semple refers to My Mad Fat Diary as a "breath of fresh air and will do a lot to change the way young people think about mental health." [12] The mental health charity Mind honoured the show in their annual Media Awards in the Drama category in 2014 [13] and 2016. [14] [15]

Earl is incredibly good value for money. Somehow during our chat, there’s even time for me to say hello to her husband, her mum, and very nearly, a doctor who’s the spit of Dev Patel in Lion currently making a house call to her poorly child. My Mad Fat Diary is a British teen comedy-drama television series that debuted on E4 on 14 January 2013. It is based on the novel My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary by Rae Earl. [1] Series two is the darkest of the three sets of episodes, and it pretty much pushes this teenage friendship group to its breaking point. At one stage, three of the group aren’t talking to each other and another goes missing because they’ve got in with the wrong crowd. The stakes get pretty high at some points, too, the show isn’t without a sense of danger. Sharon Rooney flashes a brilliant smile and shouts a cheery hello while rifling through a clothes rail in a photographic studio. There is something immediately brighter, more luminous, about Rooney than the troubled teenager, Rae, she plays in E4’s cult comedy drama My Mad Fat Diary. Rae has problems with depression and is hung-up about her weight, but Rooney is comfortable in her own skin. So, to wrap things up – My Mad Fat Diary creates educational, entertaining and emotional TV from its component parts, presenting a lot of laughs alongside a heartfelt narrative and a brutally honest study of mental health. There are endearing performances throughout, and a plenty of juicy character arcs to get your teeth into.
