This was another standard cricket book, talking about the early years and covering his career as he became a part of the England team.

Everything from the current state of cricket to presenting on Top Gear to Christmas and Getting Old.

Although I found the writing style to be quite rambling, their are some interesting observations and a few humorous moments. It was a great bit of escapism, with Freddie's opinions on all sorts of things put down on paper almost like a stream of consciousness, such that he does contradict himself (by his own admission) quite often. In this book Freddie talks candidly about his fame, his family, the sport he loves and the effect it has had on his life since the incredible summer of 2005, when the England cricket team beat Australia and Freddie Fever gripped the country. Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff is a funny guy on the box but this was just bland and repetitious stuff that barely shed light on the 2005 Ashes that's been reported elsewhere.

But Freddie Flintoff has had a moment to reflect and he's noticed that throughout his four decades, although there's been little method in the madness, there has been the occasional common thread.

Throughout, Fred shares his code for success, happiness and a life fully lived - and gives his readers a laugh, some joy, and (the occasional) pause for thought along the way. Because of lockdown, I only received the book relatively recently and lockdown is one of the things occupying Flintoff’s mind in this book. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The storytelling lacks the depth and introspection that could have provided readers with a more profound understanding of the man behind the cricketing legend. The cricketing legend reflects on a life brimming with both spectacular sporting achievement and ill-advised yet hilarious antics to deliver a manual for life like no other with his inimitable good humour and charm. Each chapter Flintoff picks a topic and discusses it, with not much apparent connection between chapters, which is great because it makes it very easy to read.Additionally, the book assumes a certain level of cricketing knowledge, potentially alienating readers who may not be well-versed in the sport. It was actually a collections of opinions and it was an interesting glipse into the mind of Andrew Flintoff. At 43 years of age, and with a bit more time on his hands than usual, Freddie Flintoff has had a moment to reflect and he's noticed that, although there's been little method in the madness, there has been the occasional common thread. If you have read that book then this follows a similar theme, Freddie chats in his trademark way about his opinions on various topics such as Trump, Pandemics and Social Media. This book marks his story so far in his own words, taking us up to and including the summer of 2005.

The inside story of the world's most exciting cricketer - a national hero following the dramatic 2005 Ashes series - and the spectacular impact he has had on the game. Every single Certificate of Authenticity is also verified by our chief executive officer - to guarantee that the item is genuine and hand signed. Freddie” Flintoff has always been a larger than life character, achieving notoriety for some of his off-field antics. Publishing at the end of October 2021, The Book of Fred showcases Flintoff’s unique approach to life. It’s hard to imagine anyone else having a career that spans sporting hero, TV star, musical performer and amateur boxer. It's part autobiography - mostly about his roles in Top Gear, Talk Sport and In a League of their Own. From one of Britain's most-loved national treasures, comes a much-needed Bible of straight-talking honesty and sharp observational following an unprecedented time of collective global insanity, Freddie is ready to impart his effortless charm, wit and wisdom on a wild array of topics. Part rant, part stream of consciousness, part philosophical delve, part meandering waffling, part nostalgic binge, the book is an entertaining romp through a range of subjects. The Book of Fred will share Flintoff’s code for success, happiness and a life fully lived, gleaned from half a lifetime of hard yakka on the wicket, in the dressing room, behind the wheel, in the boxing ring, and even treading the boards of a stage musical.
