Description

It is suitable for all makes of 4-stroke bikes, both carbureted and fuel injected where API SL (and below) and JASO MA or MA-2 specifications are recommended. When comparing a two-stroke engine to a four-stroke, the most obvious difference is that in a two-stroke engine there are two complete revolutions for every combustion cycle, whereas, in a four-stroke, there are – you guessed it – four!

Fully synthetic 4-stroke motorcycle engine oil with Trizone Technology protection of engine, clutch and gears Some riders believe that a specifically labelled classic motorcycle two-stroke oil is the best option but the reality is that a better quality oil is the best bet for any engine, no matter how old it is. https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/images/variants/large/castrol/castrol-power1-a747-2t-semi-synthetic-2-stroke-racing-motorcycle-engine-oil-1-litre-2.jpg

As we can see in the table below that the kinematic viscosity of A747 is relatively higher than its competitor at hot and cold temperatures. If you want a clean-burning oil that’s smokeless, or at least low smoke, then try Motul 800 or Mobil 1 MX2T. Castrol POWER1 Racing 4T 10W-40, using Race Derived Technology based on Castrol’s long and successful racing association, flows fast and stays strong, reducing internal engine friction even under the most arduous riding conditions.

Today’s cheap two-stroke oil is far better than the quality two-stroke oil of 30 years ago. Expensive two-stroke oil might be deemed unnecessary by some, mainly because vintage or classic motorcycles don’t rev to the same high rev ceilings as modern machines but if you can afford it, go for a quality brand like Castrol’s A747.Hope the pic ain't too small to see but this is the extent of carbon build up after running the engine for years on a mixture of Castrol R40, plain modern mineral, part-synth, fully-synth, and sometimes a mixture of one, or more than one other of the aforementioned. Despite what they say about Castrol R not mixing with other oils I believe this to be a misunderstanding. On four-strokes where people use Castrol R in their crankcases I can see why they wouldn't mix, and this is where the warnings come in; but on the total-loss, burn the whole damn lot in the combustion chamber two-stroke, it seems not to matter.

Most road-going two-stroke motorcycles use a fuel to oil ratio of around 25:1 however with a trials bike you need far less 2t oil, so a mix of 60:1 to up 100:1 is common. https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/images/variants/icon/castrol/castrol-power1-a747-2t-semi-synthetic-2-stroke-racing-motorcycle-engine-oil-1-litre-2.jpg The A747 does leave a film on everything that means protection levels are very high. Don't be afraid to use A747 and syntetic oils but make sure you don't mix the two fuels together. On the contrary, Castrol A747 has a much sweeter smell when riding. As does the Amsoil Dominator two stroke oil. These are probably my two favorite options when it comes to the best smelling oils for both motocross and enduro riding. They’re quite scarce to come by these days but keep your eyes peeled for any kind of two-stroke premix that has a castor compound in it. However just because an expensive two-stroke oil is better, it doesn’t mean you have to run the most premium one you can find.Whether you’re running a classic motorcycle or a modern chainsaw; if it has a two-stroke engine you’ll want to use the best quality 2t oil, to ensure the engine runs well and doesn’t seize. That’s my RD250 above and I run it on the best quality two-stroke oil because I don’t want to be riding around worrying whether it will seize, I just want to enjoy myself on it! If you’re looking for the perfect blend between smell and performance I would suggest taking a look at Penrite Race Castor Oil. This is a synthetic ester blend which smells incredible and offers fantastic protection for the inside of your machine. Firstly, you should never run your motorcycle on two-stroke oil that’s designed for a hedge strimmer or a chainsaw. It just won’t be able to keep up and a few miles down the road, your bike will seize.
