Description

Still, the cheaper Hisense has a very wide color gamut, excellent contrast, and superb black uniformity, so it's a tremendous choice for watching HDR movies as they really pop in a dark room.

Upscaling performance was reasonable with a slightly soft-looking image with some good quality SD channels and DVD discs, but HD 1080i and 1080p did look nice with solid straight lines and only minor signs of ringing around edges with some content. Starting with their 2021 TVs, the flagship ULED lineup has a U in front of the model names, while the entry-level models have an A. The first letter is followed by a number to indicate where it stands in the lineup; the last letter represents the year; Hisense uses G for 2021, H for 2022, and K for 2023.You’ll be able to access all of the best streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Britbox, as well as catch up services like BBC iPlayer and the ITV hub.

The larger screen sizes in the A7GQ line-up use IPS panels which have much better off-axis viewing angle performance, but weaker contrast.Remember, the bigger you go, the worse the picture will look, as Full HD really pales in comparison to 4K. There are easy to use menu and directional keys as well as direct one-press access to apps such as Freeview Play, Netflix and Prime, to name three.

Hisense makes use of a variety of different smart TV platforms, depending on the set you’re watching, including the third-party Roku and Android TV platforms. This means that we cannot guarantee that performance will be the same between the 50-inch and the larger sized models. It is a really lovely picture too, I am used to a 3 year old budget samsung tv, but for my PC I use a relatively high end ultrawide ips monitor (LG 34gn850).

We’d have to review this TV to give you a good idea of its actual performance, but on paper, you can definitely expect a fairly meaty improvement to image quality with a Quantum ULED set, particularly one with full-array local dimming, over a traditional LED set. Although admittedly, the HDR brightness isn’t as bright as you’d get elsewhere so the contrast could be better. Sitting straight onto the screen the image quality was very good, so the positioning of seating will be important with this 50-inch model. We've just posted our 1-year video update with our latest findings on temporary image retention, burn-in, and more!
