The WIRED conversation illuminates how technology is changing every aspect of our lives—from culture to business, science to design. Gladiator" has etched its name into cinematic history, primarily due to its heart-pounding action sequences that unfold within the magnificent Colosseum. I grew up watching, and loving, the movie, and when I finally read the book I was disappointed (see, people loving the first source first). New Zealand's spectacular nature provided the perfect setting for the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. The movie got made, then got slated for being terrible, then was forgotten about completely until this very moment, so apologies for reminding you of its existence.

Its enduring popularity serves as a testament to its timeless storytelling, awe-inspiring visuals, and unforgettable characters. I got through the first 7 Saw movies and aside from some frustrations with Saw 3D and the lack of a central main protagonist for the series (this one is a noticeable problem IMO), I overall have enjoyed them very much and considered them all pretty good. When I read the book I was so disappointed that the very last seen was condensed down to a very short read of a hand full of pages.

The film's depiction of Roman society, politics, and the grandeur of the era provides viewers with an immersive experience that resonates with the spirit of the times. Better than 2, holy fuck Amanda is awesome in this one, definitely my favorite part of the movie and I love her and John's whole thing. Holmes’ much more than ‘A Slight Trick of the Mind’ – probably mostly for the cinematography, the fabulous acting of Sir Ian… and of course they were a lot gentler with the ending. And finally, I think whether you watch a movie first or read the book first tends to solidify that source as the “right” source in your mind, so that whatever you watch or read second will always feel secondary, unless you happen to really fall for it more.

While "Spartacus" falls within the realm of historical fiction, it adeptly encapsulates the spirit of ancient Rome and the complexities of the slave rebellion. I also think most of the movies based on Stephen King novellas–Shawshank, Stand by Me/The Body–were better than the written ones. His powerful presence and emotional depth bring the character to life, earning him accolades and a lasting place in cinematic history. She has to fall in love with someone who is of the same economic status as her — or so the story goes.

There were some aspects of the book I did like a bit better, but overall I thought the movie was much better.
