Essentially, pro films look best when shot and developed as soon as possible after manufacture, and are made to exact and known “tolerances.” Consumer-grade film will look best when shot a few weeks or half-a-year after manufacture, and isn’t as precise a product. Here's a still life shot we took with our production X-T200 mounted on a tripod and using a Manfrotto Lumimuse as the light source. This was taken at ISO 200. (Image credit: Rod Lawton) Performance RAW images are, of course, slightly noisier but perfectly usable up to ISO 6400. If, however, you don’t want to edit RAW images in post, then there are two additional DR modes to improve contrast in images – DR200% and DR400% offer one and two stops of highlight compensation respectively. Professional films are formulated to exact sensitivities and color profiles and manufactured with the intention that they will be bought, shot, and processed within days of distribution.

This 200/2 can be great for night or indoor sports, but for daytime outdoor sports I'd use the Fujinon 100-400mm. If this 1,200×900 pixel crop is about 6" (15cm) wide on your screen, then the complete image printed at this same high magnification would be about 21 × 31" (1.7 × 2.6 feet or 50 × 80 cm). Our signal to noise test measures image clarity, specifically the ratio of the actual image 'data' you want to capture, versus the image noise that you don't want, but will inevitably be visible when shooting at higher ISO sensitivities. The higher the score at a given ISO sensitivity, the better. This is the only super tele made for the Fujifilm cameras. This is a great lens for people and portrait photography. The Fujifilm XF 200mm F2 R LM OIS WR exhibits only slight vignetting at f/2 and virtually no distortion, as you can see in the photo below. The star feature, however, is the big 3.5-inch vari-angle touchscreen. The only other Fujifilm camera to have this is the X-A7, and it’s a shame you don’t get this on the higher-end models too. The screen has a 16:9 ratio that’s perfect for video and it flips round to the front for selfies and vlogging. I use a clear (UV) protective filter instead of a cap. I only use a cap when I throw this in my bag, otherwise I leave a clear protective filter on my lens at all times so I'm ready to shoot instantly. This lens is superb in that I'd expect to see spherochromatism, and there is nearly none. Bravo, Fujinon! Leave it ON unless you're making exposures longer than a second on any kind of tripod. Leave it on even if on a tripod; tripods shake, too, with long lenses like this.

This is Fujifilm's first ultra-speed ultra-tele for their APS-C X-mount cameras. A 200mm f/2 makes the same images with the same defocus on APS-C cameras as a 300mm f/2.8 does on full-frame cameras. This 200/2 is priced about the same as the larger Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR II and Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS II — however as a smaller-format system this 200/2 is smaller and weighs less than a 300/2.8. The X-T200 is a very compelling camera for photography novices or content creators, and it's technically far superior to the X-T100. It feels as if it has shifted away from low-cost stills photography and more towards video, however, which is no bad thing in itself but has pushed the price up to a different level. and 45 cycles per millimeter on APS-C is the same as 10 and 30 cycles per millimeter on full frame. There’s plenty of detail in the images, with barely any moiré (striped patterns) – even at ISO 6400. Noise becomes visible only at higher sensitivities of ISO 12,800 and above, but we’re hoping most beginner photographers won’t need to head up to the faster speeds. The Fujifilm XF 200mm F2 R LM OIS WR is an undeniably massive telephoto lens, especially with the huge lens hood attached, weighing in at 2,265g, measuring 20cm in length and dwarfing the new X-T3 camera body that we tested it with. The final switch selects AF-L, Preset and AF. If the preset position is selected, then the preset focus position can be recalled by pressing any of the focus control buttons. The focus position is recalled by the four buttons at the front of the lens. The focus position is set using the set button and this works in any AF mode. The X-T200 uses the NP-W126S Li-ion battery that has a CIPA rating of 270 shots in standard mode, but can provide up to 450 shots in Economy mode (which you will find under the Power Management option within the camera’s menu system). There’s no external charger in the box – the battery can be topped up in-camera via the USB-C port on the side. Build and handling I got my Fuji 200mm f/2 at B&H, who also offers a kit with a free 105mm filter. I'd also get it all at Adorama. A few of the more boutique films I’ve reviewed on here are synonymous with specific types of photography; either by design or by how the herd has taken to shooting them.

Sell the kit you’re not using to MPB. Trade in for the kit you need to create. Buy used, spend less and get more. Buy. Sell. Trade. Create.

Introduction

The kit lens needs a minimum focus distance of 13cm, which may not be sufficient for most macro photography needs but does lend itself well to fun experiments. (Image credit: TechRadar) Even if something did somehow go wrong and you lost your shots, dispiriting as that would be, at least you haven’t also wasted an expensive Ektachrome E100 or rare discontinued Fujicolor Natura 1600, for example. It’s a trend I did my bit to keep going, with these JCH Pan 400 street shots and these CineStill 800T neon signs. The manual focus ring is electronic, so it only works some of the time depending on how you have your camera set.
