Use fine motor skills in decorating and creating their own nibble monster craft. Nibbles the Book Monster Activities – The Kids Answers As I reorganize my library shelves, I have come across a few gems that I bought on a trip to London and somehow shelved without reading them. What a treat this little cache has been this morning! Anyway, despite my son's immaturity for Nibbles - or rather his too risky closeness to and absolutely predictable adoration of the toothy little rascal, I happen to enjoy reading this book myself every so often. It is both a simple joy and an inspiration, which never fails to bring a smile to my face.

They are perceived as classics but I think the only reason Red Riding Hood is still popular today is because it's free to print and retell the story. Same with all the others. Leonardo really is a terrible monster – so terrible that he can't scare anyone, ever. Then, one day, he hatches a plan... Encourage the student’s creativity in naming their own book monster (for those that have the capability I also ask them to come up with a name that begins with the letter N). Fantastic production makes this book a really exciting reading experience. Older children will love the havoc Nibbles creates in the fairy tales they know so well, while little readers will adore the cheeky look in his eyes as he tears through the book. The final reveal is another fabulous surprise. Nibbles is sure to be a hit with the whole family. Some ideas for this book would be to discuss the similarities and differences between the folklore stories to compared to the original or a different version. There are many similarities and differences that the students could find. They could create a Venn Diagram to show the similarities and differences. Since there are a few different versions mentioned within the Book Monster, the teacher would have great examples to do a teacher model, a we do example, and a student do. Also, students could complete a sequence of events for the Book Monster to explain what happened throughout the story. Students could also write about what they think will happen next to Nibbles. Students could create their own story about Nibbles and his next adventure. Lastly, the teacher could have a discussion about how students know that this is a fractured fairy-tale/folklore story and how this story is different from nonfiction.I am a book monster myself, though I don't really eat books, at least not in the way Nibbles does. I devour books by reading them. :D The first document contains a ‘Book Talk Map’. This is the perfect document to guide your discussion after story time with questions to encourage children to think critically and imaginatively to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Nibbles! High quality book talk is imperative in supporting a reading for pleasure attitude in our pupils. These questions provide a prompt for rich discussion questioning children’s perspectives on the book and what they like or dislike about it. I think that this book is accessible to all year groups and activities and writing goals and be altered to suit all ages and abilities.

The art/illustrations were gorgeous and lovely, they were just as much fun as the story was. Nibbles is drawn in a cute way, and I also loved seeing the fairy tales come to live anew with this artist's art. Count out loud with the group while reading the book as well as with individuals while they complete the activity. counting exposure. Nibbles loves to nibble toes, and Nibbles nibbles hooks. But Nibbles' favourite thing of all to nibble on is . . . books! There are seven in the Nibbles books series so far, including some fun early learning titles with Numbers and Colours and a Nibbles Christmas Book.Compared to what we have on offer today, reading fairy tales is like using VHS tapes. Not worth the effort. Have the student think through the ‘next steps.’ Where will the monster go next? What will happen in the future?

The illustrations in the book are beautiful and will delight both kids and adults. The age recommended in the version was 3 to 5 years, but kids from all ages will enjoy not only be told the story, but going through the way (holes) the character did in the books. Have fun. I did! 😉Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Part of the Solve Your Own Mystery seri... Never heard of Nibbles the book monster? We need to fix this right now! Here’s where you can find everything Nibbles: I love the fact that a traditional tales have been included and altered to fit into this book! SO CLEVER! it give the children some familiarity and shows them how some traditional tales can be changed and altered. A really fun story with adorable illustrations to get lost in! Nibbles likes to nibble on things, and books are especially tasty to him. He nibbles his way out of his own book, then in and out of quite a few others, while the child who owns the books tries to find him before Nibbles eats the kid's whole collection of books! The illustrations are filled with lots of fun details, including some spreads where the reader has to find where Nibbles is hiding. Such a cute book, I want a copy for me! If the turn outs in the stories weren’t enough to make you laugh, the version I had had real holes in my ages showing how He makes his way through the books, and that alone is worthy many smiles.
