We tested the men’s Teva Hurricane XLT 2 sandal. This sandal is the newest update to the long-standing Hurricane XLT model, and we like the added traction and strap comfort. There is a women’s specific model, and it is the same in all aspects except for fit. While the Teva Hurricane XLT2 is a reliable outdoor pair of sandals, it does have a few areas where it could be improved. The Teva Hurricane XLT 2 sandals were plenty comfortable, but the insole didn’t handle sweat well. You can’t see that in this picture, but it was an issue. Final Word By featuring more padding in the heel area and a contoured footbed, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 provided excellent alignment, reducing strain on my heel and promoting proper posture. I have fairly flat feet, but these sandals don't have an extreme arch, so they were perfect for the shape of my feet. The footbed is soft, cushioned, and breathable, while the rubber sole has traction that allowed me to walk across the many types of terrain, wet and dry, of the Bay without worry. It was easy to get a comfortable fit by adjusting the three different Velcro straps.

The updated outsoles have great traction and are super durable. The insole could use some work. Strap and Webbing 3 Stars Teva’s design is unique, and remains almost unchanged from the original hiking sandal. There are enough adjustments to really dial in fit. What I noticed though is that the fit can be a bit narrow, especially in the toe box area. Furthermore, Teva doesn’t do half sizes, so if you have wide feet, you may need to size up a full size. How It Evolved? The only complaint I have is in regards to the insoles: they aren’t great with sweat management. The main reason I wear sandals is that it’s just too hot to wear anything else, therefore, I deal with this sweat problem a lot. It surprised me because the same insoles deal with water quite well, but for some reason the sweat seems to be completely different.There are plenty more designs to choose from, including platform sandals, special pattern collections (like the commemorative Grand Canyon one), and hiking sneakers. While the looks might differ, the features that stay constant across the Teva brand are comfort, all-weather and all-terrain durability, and support. It has a minimalist design with a secure strapping system and a Vibram outsole for reliable traction. To be clear, the tactile comfort of the straps is great and this never caused any problems. However, the position of the tensioner on the forefoot could use some adjustment. This is the cause of the pressure point. I have an extremely narrow foot so it could be specific to my feet. With all footwear, I really need to crank down the tension system, whether it’s laces, straps, BOA, etc. Fit Compared to the Teva Hurricane XLT2 sandal, the Cairn Adventure sandal offers a more minimalist feel and is lighter in weight.

The Teva Hurricane XLT 2 sandal didn’t hinder my movements or make me feel fatigued, allowing me to enjoy my summer adventures without any unnecessary burden.
