Mapei Ultracolor Plus creates water repellent grout joints that have excellent colour uniformity. All colours are resistant to UV rays and atmospheric agents. Mapei Mapesil LM Silicone delays the formation of surface mould. Mapei Mapesil LM generally offers good resistance to chemical agents. However, because of the wide range of products and service conditions, if in doubt carry out preliminary tests beforehand. The use of Mapei Mapesil AC is not recommended on highly plasticised material or on bituminous surfaces because of the release of substances that reduce bonding and penetrate into the sealant, altering the colour and resistance. Final cleaning of the powdery film of Mapei Ultracolor Plus from the surface may be carried out with a clean, dry cloth.

Mapei Mapesil LM is particularly suitable for surfaces sensitive to acids on which conventional neutral or acid sealants normally provoke changes in colour or staining of the substrate. Thanks to the low modulus of elasticity of Mapei Mapesil LM Silicone, it is suitable for sealing internal and external fillet and expansion joints, including those subject to high levels of movement when in service, between: Pre-fabricated panels, window/door fittings and wall surrounds, pipe-work and vertical walls, similar and/or different types of coating materials. It is also suitable for sealing joints in doors with limited pedestrian traffic. Do not apply Mapesil LM Silicone on rubber, heavily-plasticised plastics or bitumen. The oil and plasticising agents in the substrate may migrate to the surface and compromise the bond or penetrate into the sealant leading to a variation in colour and mechanical characteristics. The resistance of Mapei Mapesil AC to chemical agents is generally excellent; however, due to the numerous products and working conditions to which Mapei Mapesil AC can be applied, it is always advisable to do a sample test in cases of doubt.

Do not use Mapei Mapesil LM for sealing doors subject to intense traffic – (use Mapeflex PU45, Mapeflex PU20 or Mapeflex PU21). Sealing joints in wall and floor coverings of ceramic and cement, provided they are not subject to heavy abrasion. When resistance to acids or, where extreme cleanliness or sterile conditions are required, use a suitable acid-resistant epoxy grout. Application of Mapei Primer FD: Where the use of Primer FD is necessary, it must be applied with a small brush onto the appropriate areas of the joints and left to dry for several minutes to allow the solvent to evaporate. Then apply Mapei Mapesil AC Silicone.Do not use Mapei Mapesil AC Silicone for joints in exterior between ceramic tiles and light-coloured natural stone because dirt could accumulate by the joints. Use Mapei Mapesil LM Silicone. Expansion and movement joints on walls and floors must never be filled with Mapei Ultracolor Plus. Use a suitable flexible sealant from the MAPEI range. Preparing the mix: While stirring, pour the Mapei Ultracolor Plus Grout powder into a clean, rust-free container containing 21-23% by weight of clean water. Mix the grout with a low-speed mixer to avoid air entrainment, until a smooth paste is obtained. Let the mix stand for 2-3 minutes, and stir again briefly before use. Use the mix within 20-25 minutes of its preparation.

All Mapei Ultracolor Plus grout colours are also available in a matching silicone – Mapesil AC Silicone. If using this grout with moisture sensitive natural stone tiles, a low modulus silicone is advised – Mapei Mapesil LM Silicone. For sealing surfaces sensitive to acids such as lime stone, use a neutral silicone sealant (e.g. Mapesil LM). Under certain conditions Mapei Mapesil LM Silicone may have a water-repellent effect along the edges of joints. This effect is only noticeable when surfaces are wet and is invisible when the same surfaces are dry. This phenomenon, however, has no effect on the product’s performance characteristics. Do not use Mapei Primer FD when sealing stone or marble. When Mapei Mapesil LM is exposed to the air, the surrounding humidity sets off the cure reaction and the sealant becomes flexible. The surrounding temperature only has a small impact on the cure rate of Mapei Mapesil LM, while the level of humidity in the surrounding air has the most influence. We highly recommend that the product is never applied if the temperature is below 0°C. Mapei Mapesil AC Silicone is a solvent-free, acetic crosslinking, mildew-resistant silicone sealant with low modulus of elasticity, available in 42 colours and transparent, to match the range of Mapei Coloured Grouts. After first having used a bonding enhancer, such as Mapei Primer FD, Mapei Mapesil AC Silicone can also be used on concrete, wood, metal, painted surfaces, plastic and rubber.

Mapei Ultracolor Plus is suitable for grouting walls and floors in areas that are subject to intense traffic, such as shopping centres, airports, restaurants and other public spaces. It is also suitable for residential use in all areas, such as facades, balconies, terraces and swimming pools. Applying the grout: Fill the joints with the Mapei Ultracolor Plus mix using a special MAPEI grout float or rubber squeegee, without leaving any gaps or steps. Remove any excess of Mapei Ultracolor Plus from the surface, by moving the float diagonally to the joints while the mix is still fresh. Mapei Ultracolor Plus Tile Grout is made up of a blend of special hydraulic binders, graded aggregates, special polymers, water repellent admixtures, organic molecules and pigments. Mapei Ultracolor Plus forms a smooth, compact finished surface with optimum resistance to abrasion, compression and flexural strength, and good resistance to acids with a pH > 3. Floors are ready for light foot traffic after approx. 3 hours. Surfaces grouted with Mapei Ultracolor Plus may be put into service after 24 hours. Basins and swimming pools may be filled up 48 hours after grouting.

To control the depth of the joint and to prevent Mapei Mapesil AC Silicone from adhering to the base, the bottom of the joint should be filled with a sized Mapefoam, a polyethylene cord Where Mapei Mapesil AC is to be applied in areas of continuous immersion, i.e. inside a swimming pool tank, the joints must be primed using Mapei Primer FD. Excellent durability. Seals remain unchanged even after many years exposure to climatic extremes, industrial pollution, sudden temperature changes and immersion in water; If the cleaning operation is carried out too soon (the mix is still too wet), some of the mix may be removed from the joints.
