Description

If you are a user of a; Clarett Thunderbolt, Saffire or Red interface, on macOS 10.13+ please see the following article in addition to the below steps: Retain 48V - This allows you to control if the phantom power option is on by default when the unit is power cycled. Also, Scarlett Solo and 2i2 3rd Gen will be detected by Focusrite Control, but they display the message 'Output routing is not supported on this device' because their output controls are all located on the front of the device itself. In Focusrite Control's Settings, select None in the Monitor Controls section. Make sure the faders for the analogue outputs are turned up all the way. The volume for these outputs should be controlled via your recording software (DAW). The only issue I have with this device it's that it has ONE bus mixer. Means you can create one "custom mix" aka virtual mixer (with whichever physical or software inputs you like) and then assign this one mix output it to whichever outputs you like but there's only ONE such stereo mix. It means that you can't for example pass line-in 7-8 to out 1-2 and line-in 5-6 to out 3-4 as that would require 2 independent virtual mixers which is not possible.

How you set up the routing and settings will depend on the reason you are using Standalone Mode. In the rest of this article, we will focus on the most common reason: using a Focusrite interface as an Expansion unit. Setting up an interface with an optical ADAT output and input for use as an Expansion unitTo do this, you need to connect a second optical cable between the optical ADAT output of the Host unit and the optical ADAT input of the Expansion unit. YES - Follow the steps at the end of this article if your system crashes when connecting a 2nd Gen Scarlett.

To route the audio from the ADAT inputs to the analogue outputs you need to make some more changes in Focusrite Control for the Expansion unit. You can do this at the same time you're doing the above routing or reconnect the Focusrite interface to the computer to make the changes. For compatibility information for Focusrite Pro products (e.g. RedNet and Red) on macOS Sierra 10.12 please see this article. NO - We recommend against using Forte with macOS Monterey 12. Forte Control may work if installed prior to updating but this is unsupported. The Forte Control installer will fail if it is run on macOS Monterey 12. For compatibility information for Focusrite Pro products (e.g. RedNet and Red) on macOS Ventura 13 please see this article. Added the ability to change the colour of the good, pre clipping and clipping stages of the Gain Halos on Scarlett 3rd Generation interfaces.

Finally, the 18i20 comes with Focusrite's Scarlett Plugin Suite (EQ, Compressor, Reverb and Gate), 1GB of Loopmasters samples, Ableton Live Lite, and Novation's Bass Station soft synth. Seeing red Once you have done this, close Focusrite Control and disconnect the interface from the computer. Connect the RCA S/PDIF output of the interface to your Host interface's RCA S/PDIF input (using a coaxial RCA digital cable) to record the inputs from the Expansion unit into your computer. Applies To: Scarlett 2 nd Generation 6i6, 18i8, & 18i20; Scarlett 3rd Generation and Clarett Range. To listen to audio from a turntable or CD connected to the Line inputs through your powered speakers/headphones - see here. IMPORTANT NOTE: we have had a very small number of reports of Macs not booting up correctly after installing our software and rebooting the system on High Sierra 10.13. Please see this article for more information. If Focusrite Control details “[Input]/[Output] Controls are not supported on this device”, this is normal and any controls relating to this will be on the physical unit itself. Yes! If your Host interface also has an RCA S/PDIF output, you can pass audio from the computer/Host interface to the analogue outputs on the Expansion unit. This is useful for extra headphone mixes or connecting to analogue outboard FX processors.
