What I like from it is that all recipes are detailed in british (oz) and international (gms) weights, therefore no matter what sort of scale you have in your kitchen, you will be able to apply the precise weight for all ingredients. I've also got the 40th edition and confirm there is no flapjack recipe, but seeing as Be-ro is a brand of flour, and flapjacks don't contain flour, are you sure it was a bero recipe? I have a small collection of old Be-Ro books including the one I bought for myself in the 1970's and a couple of very early editions of my mum's and grandma's. I reached for it this morning, 'Stir Up Sunday', since my daughter and I are embarking on our first ever Christmas Pudding at home. No idea on the difference in the recipes now, but I grew up cooking with this book and we always just used to completely interchange marg and butter (if it was for a special occasion/bake sale we'd always use butter).

Forgot to add that despite having a huge amount of recipe books that my Be-Ro (40th edition) is the one I use the most. Alternatively, you may be involved in a cleanup operation or enjoy finding books that will make you some extra cash.

First published in 1923, and now in its 41st edition, the "Be-Ro" recipe book is arguably one of the best-selling cookery books ever, with more than thirty eight million copies having been sold. Just thought I'd add my Mum (who is 80) has a first edition Bero book which belonged to hrr Mum and is in mint condition! They never change a great deal from one book to another so I'd say it's a 50/50 thing if you want to upgrade (mine's been repaired so many times there's more repair than book). As a result, a free recipe book was produced and handed out at the exhibitions as well as door to door. this particular edition has printed authentic-looking coffee cup stains and splashes on each page, which I wasn't a particular fan of.

A publisher bero and this is also a book series equivalent to bero just as a genre equivalent to cookbooks. Didnt they do this on great British bake off and prue leith said it was traditionally a genoise sponge? I just got hold of my Nana's old copy, from which we spent many happy Sundays baking medeira cakes and buns.Recently I decided to try to find out when one of my mum's favourite recipes, the one for rich coconut tartlets, first appeared in a Be-Ro book - the only recipe book she ever used. They soon became an essential part of a young woman's education in running a home and feeding a family. An era qualified as 1990s but also an intended audience qualified as adults and also to a language -> english. That's now less likely as charities are more wise to the value of things than they used to be owing to their volunteers being more internet savvy!

I can't work out how to rotate the picture for easier viewing, it was only yesterday I learned how to use a QR code when I went out for lunch and that was how you joined the queue and looked at the menu. This is an excellent book giving hundreds of traditional and innovative recipes which are easy to understand and exciting to use. Your copy has the same ISBN but where you have a gap at the bottom of Page 15 that's where the Syrup Flapjacks appear. While the books ignite a feeling of nostalgia in some people – the recipes are backdated as the technology we use, the science of cooking at more advanced recipes are more appealing to modern bakers and cooks. each recipe accompanied by a little colour photograph, giving another clue to the era, with free use of glace cherries, angelica and piped cream. I remember using a very similar Be-Ro recipe book when I was a child, though I'm not saying it was the first edition, I wonder how long my mum had had that book, it was very well used. As I am sure you are aware, right now, it's costing significantly more to make and distribute products.

The books would have been passed down or given as gifts when women moved out of the family home when they were married. Our Story Thomas Bell founded a wholesale grocery firm near the Tyne quays and railway station in Newcastle in the 1880s. I remember having my own Be-Ro recipe book from before I was married, but don't know if it's the same one that I've still got.I am very happy for the recipes to be used or passed on but would be grateful if anyone who wants to copy and publish my words or photos would let me know first using the comment section. I have offered all the others around in my friends circle, they all just google if they are looking for something.
