The ’1s are stunning with vocal-based material. We listen to the likes of Tracy Chapman’s Telling Stories, Van Morrison’s Moondance and Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago and marvel at the way these speakers deliver voices in such a solid and expressive way. You’d need to spend closer to four figures to get any better in this respect. There are rivals that dig up as much information, but few deliver it with such a sense of passion and enthusiasm. AB31, AB32, AB33, AB34, AB35, AB36, AB37, AB38, AB41, AB42, AB43, AB44, AB45, AB46, AB47, AB48, AB49, AB50, AB51, AB52, AB53, AB54, AB55, AB56 Sources: Lenovo Yoga 3-14 Ultrabook, foobar2000 (Ver 1.4), Spotify Premium, Samsung TV UA49MU6100, Chord Mojo DAC/headamp / Headphones: Grado SR80e / Amplification: Rega Elex-R / Speakers: Elac Debut B6.

Oberon 3 can handle a max power of 150 watts RMS from the amp the whereas Oberon 1 has a max power handling value of 100 watts RMS, 50 watts less than the Oberon 3. My listening room is a barn which makes it a large room to fill with sound: overall dimensions run roughly 35’ x 45’ with 12’ ceilings, while the actual listening area divides that width in half. Among the first of many surprises from the relatively diminutive DALIs was their ability to do a convincing job of filling this listening space with sweet, liquid, music. I placed the Oberon 3 where all of the loudspeakers I listen to live, roughly 6’ from the front wall and more than 4’ from the side ‘walls’ where the sound image they threw into the room extended well beyond the loudspeakers in every dimension. They sounded BIG. Then an amp to go with said speakers. Richer sound seem to push the arcam 10 and 20 at 700 and 1000 respectively. My friend who is into audio has listened to the arcams and wasn't impressed though and he does have a simalar ear. I know it's hard without knowing exactly which speaker I'm getting but any and all suggestions are welcome. It was clear that the DALI Oberon 3 allowed the different voices of the Clones Audio and NAD to shine through while retaining a convincing full-bodied and colorful sound. The Clones 25iRX integrated amplifier is rated at 30 Watts per channel (into 8 Ohms) while the NAD outputs 50 Watts into 4 or 8 Ohms and both had no problem driving the Oberon 3 as loud as I cared to listen. In terms of preference, I found the Clones Audio 25iRX integrated amplifier a bit more exciting with greater clarity and resolution but we are getting into horses for courses territory while ignoring the significant price differential between these two fine integrated amplifiers.

My veredict is that to my ears, all three speakers are clear and crisp. The voices and guitars sound probably as well as in my current system (but I would need more time to test). The Oberon in wall have practically no bass. The Oberon 3 and 607s have significantly more, but in either of them I would need a subwoofer or I will be looking for a new setup as soon as I start using these. We reserve the right to refuse installation should our engineers think that the existing electrical or plumbing points are unsafe and in need of maintenance or if they are unable to install to existing furniture. Wherever you want to properly listen to music and don‘t want to compromise too much, the Oberon has the edge. Here, DALI has really taken care of the tonal qualities. The Danes are actually time and again surprising their fans with loudspeakers that are hardly considered possible. So a little more budget is good for even further amazement. This ensures the optimal handover from the midrange woofer to the tweeter, creating a well-balanced, unforced and very coherent upper midrange. Compared to most soft dome tweeters in the market, the Dali dome material is less than half the weight (0.060 mg/mm2). The tweeter front plate near the dome has been designed with similar geometry as the Opticon and Rubicon tweeters to create the optimal working conditions for the soft dome. The aim is to combine an extended frequency response with wide dispersion and low colouration. Patented SMC The bass ports are placed on the rear of the OBERON 3, optimising room integration by utilising the wall for improved bass performance.

The 29mm ultra-light soft dome tweeter is manufactured by Dali and has been developed specifically for the Oberon series - combining well-proven technologies from our existing Dali ranges with new features. The large size of the membrane lets the tweeter generate higher sound pressure with less excursion, keeping the voice coil motion to a precise minimum. The oversized 29mm membrane is constructed based on an ultra-light wave weave fabric and is additionally optimised for a larger bandwidth in its lower frequency area. The OBERON 3 is easy to integrate into any room. Both the driver materials and geometry applied in the OBERON 3 have been selected to achieve a wide dispersion pattern in the listening area. The same principles have been applied in the design of the crossover.Given that your Zensor 1 is already paired with an E-9F sub, your bass response would be far superior than just a pair of Oberon 3 without the sub. The large size of the membrane lets the tweeter generate higher sound pressure with less excursion, keeping the voice coil motion to a precise minimum. The second is that you don't have an existing reference point to compare speaker sounds against other than the sound from your TV. Ideally when auditioning speakers I would take my existing speakers to compare against. Audio memory is very short and can't be relied on. Hi Selwyn, thanks for writing in. My question to you would be to know what are you hoping to achieve by upgrading to the Oberon 3? What are you after actually? More bass, or better quality sound in general? or both?

Dali has tried to keep this speaker as versatile as possible, even including a rear panel fixing to make wall mounting easier. While these speakers sound notably more balanced than most rivals when used right up against a wall, if possible, we suggest pulling them around 30cm into the room to make the most of their excellent stereo imaging and midrange clarity.

The Oberon 3 is a two-channel speaker with a 29mm soft dome tweeter and a 7-inch wood fiber cone woofer. The tweeter used in the Oberon series is a new tweeter specifically created for this series and made from a unique lightweight woven material. El gran tamaño de la membrana permite al tweeter generar una presión de sonido mayor con menos movimiento, manteniendo el movimiento de la bonia de voz en un mínimo preciso.

If you’re looking for a small, unfussy pair of speakers we can’t think of anything more capable at this kind of price than these Dalis. They really are a joy. What I want is a level of quality that portrays the sounds of the instruments and performers accurately. I don't want my listening to be disturbed by failings in the equipment. The rounded edges and rustic fabric of these new DALI front grilles add a lighter and more contemporary visual look to the OBERON series. This look is enhanced by the elegantly shaped aluminium base mounted on the two floor-standing models. Size of a speaker can sometimes become an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. In this section, we are going to compare DALI Oberon 3's and DALI Oberon 1's external dimensions. DALI Oberon 3 has external dimensions of 350.0 x 201.0 x 310.0mm ( 13-3/4 x 7-7/8 x 12-3/16inch) whereas DALI Oberon 1 has external dimensions of 275.0 x 164.0 x 228.0mm ( 10-13/16 x 6-7/16 x 8-15/16inch) .
