As Flaming Lips fans know, with David Fridmann as producer compression is unavoidable, even on vinyl. Congratulations' is a collection of nine individual musical tours de force sequenced to flow with sonic and thematic coherence. It's weird enough for the artsy indie fans and accessible enough for any patient listener to appreciate and enjoy, given time. The album is accompanied by ‘the Optimizer’, providing listeners of the album with a simultaneously aural and optical listening experience including exclusive video footage and CGI work. Newly remastered from the original analog tapes, this 2LP edition of MGMT’s psychedelic rock masterpiece from 2010 is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and features the paradoxical “Flash Delirium.

This is the first band in a while that truly manage to produce perfect pop and remain effortlessly cool. So, it's disturbing when people give this album only one star, there's no redemption from a rating like that. Overall, the MGMT - Oracular Spectacular LP (RSD Essentials pink vinyl) is a highly sought-after and collectible release for fans of the band and vinyl enthusiasts alike. In 2021, the album was re-released in a limited edition RSD Essentials pink vinyl format, making it a must-have for vinyl collectors and fans of MGMT alike.

And pyramid shaped pictures in the albums artwork only work for big selling bands who have sold out to the illuminati anyway. Totally helped shape a new wave of electro-indie bands and infact bring electro into the indie mainstream!

As other reviewers have stated, there are slew of discernible influences in their music, if you choose to go looking for them, but no particular artist or era stands out as a primary source. While it may not be to the commercialisation standard of Oracular Spectacular, this is every bit as eclectic and sophisticated as that album. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This is an idea that will split people into those who think it's a muggy and terrible idea and others who think it's a brilliant idea. Opener "She Works Out" is a mangled, sunshine pop take on Air's "Sexy Boy", whilst "You're Small" is an Alice in Wonderland take on the Beatles "Across The Universe". Il examine des sujets sombres en essayant de leur donner un aspect plus clair, d'où ces mélodies torturées, sombres et chaotiques, qui rebondissent sur des rythmes leur donnant un aspect brillant. It gave the world evergreen hits such as "Kids", "Electric Feel" and "Time to Pretend" which have inspired, and continue to inspire new generations of artists and music fans alike to this day - those three songs combined have been streamed over 2 billion times on audio streaming platforms since released. The inner sleeve has glossy artwork (lots of concentric circles on one side, and lyrics printed on the other side).

The album features MGMT's signature song "Kids", the funky track "Electric Feel" (famously covered by Weezer) and the smashing opening track "Time to Pretend". Oracular Spectacular captures the zeal and reckless abandon of youth in every track, that unbridled exploratory energy accentuating moments of deep wisdom. After initially recoiling from this album, having commenced my MGMT mania with the expected trio of favorites ("Time to Pretend," "Electric Feel," "Kids"), I slowly became infatuated with and mesmerized by this quirky array of songs. Catchy tracks that combine late 70s/early 80s neo-psychedelic music with modern pop and dance tracks make for a consistent set of tracks, with great meaningful lyrics (something that seems to be lacking elsewhere in today's music), great instrument playing (with solos and extended instrumental sections reminiscent of early Pink Floyd - Of Moons, Birds and Monsters is a stand out track on this front) and a few popular tracks to make it still appeal to the masses. The album features some of MGMT's most popular and well-known songs, such as "Electric Feel" and "Kids. Gatefold double LPCurrents is the highly anticipated third full-length from the much loved Australian psychedelic rockers and the follow up to 2012's Lonerism.

Produced by MGMT and Sonic Boom, the album was recorded throughout 2009 in Upstate New York, Malibu and Brooklyn and features the band's core duo (Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser) performing with Matt Asti, Will Berman and James Richardson, their live band. In my opinion, Oracular Spectacular is one of the best albums of 2008, the melodies are catchy, beats are great, it's just awesome synth-pop.Put simply, Oracular Spectacular is a triumph of modern music, certainly, but also the psychedelic genre. Having heard this in 2008 on Now 72, this track remained my only exposure to the band, until happening upon them after looking up Time To Pretend from hearing it in an episode of Skins. After A/B the living shit out of them (with headphones), I can say that I like the 88697195121 version better than the MOV version. There is a complexity to MGMT's music that is rare and welcomed in today's formulaic, cookie cutter music factory offerings of pop culture. Concernant la critique de l'album, je suis assez en désaccord avec la majorité de ce qu'on peut trouver ici.
