Description

Alice uses the fan for herself, which causes her to shrink once more and leaves her swimming in a pool of her own tears. The prose is just beautiful and is a joy to read, it is a masterpiece in the form of a children’s book.

The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children.

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832–98), better known by the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was an English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon, and a photographer. She takes the key and uses it to open the door to the garden, which turns out to be the croquet court of the Queen of Hearts, whose guard consists of living playing cards.

Lewis Carroll and Anthony Browne, illustrator of an edition from Julia MacRae Books, wins the Kurt Maschler Award. The book has a stunning bonded leather cover, gilt edging to the pages, and colourful patterned endpapers.

Based on both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, Papp and Swados had previously produced a version of it at the New York Shakespeare Festival. Labelled "a dauntless, no-nonsense heroine" by The Guardian, the character of the plucky, yet proper, Alice has proven immensely popular and inspired similar heroines in literature and pop culture, many also named Alice in homage. This compilation also features Carroll's novels Sylvie and Bruno and Sylvie and Bruno Concluded, his masterpiece of nonsense verse "The Hunting of the Snark," and miscellaneous poems, short stories, puzzles, and acrostics. Most people know of Alice from the Disney movie – Alice in Wonderland – however I think nothing can compare to this amazing display of literary writing that comes from Lewis Carroll.Like the Goodreads sensation, JG Keely says a good children's book works for both adults and children and makes you think. copies were printed by July, but Tenniel objected to their quality, and Carroll instructed Macmillan to halt publication so they could be reprinted.
