Mark Williams -Thomas is a respected retired police detective and has since made a name for himself as a criminal investigator but I don’t understand him at all. Mark is a multi-award-winning TV Investigative Reporter and Former Police Detective, regularly on television with his crime series on ITV and Netflix, as well as a morning magazine crime strand and a best-selling author with Hunting Killers. And what you notice in this book is that he isn't about being gung-ho and doing this for some notoriety to further his career. This man is amazing the job he does, trying to bring closure to families that police have given up on. Brutal at turns and as one would expect, Hunting Killers shows, not only the unglamorous side of crime in UK's history and far beyond, but the damage it inflicts on what is left from it - the suffering of victims and its loved ones.

A tense novel from a fast-rising star, Sam Holland, The Twenty fuses a chilling race-against-time with blood-curdling crime fiction. Shortly before 7am on Saturday 26 November 1983, an armed gang burst into the Brink's-Mat security warehouse near London's Heathrow Airport. The information in the book really brought it home just how much “the tabloid effect” contributes to the way crimes are communicated to (or not) and perceived by the public, and even perhaps the outcome of those cases in court. I also found the book offered new perspective to me on cases I thought I knew and had made up my mind about. I've been in the presence of people who have killed; I've been in rooms where people have been killed.

In the book he takes us on a journey into the world of investigative journalism and I found it riveting. It involves criminal cases including those perpetrated by Peter Tobin, Jimmy Savile and Stuart Hazell, amongst many others. Really well written, incredibly interesting and I think a very important book to get a lot of information out there, I had no idea for instance the press behaved as described! Even for those who are familiar with the authors TV work this is an eye opening book and it gives an impressive insight into the inner complexities of investigative journalism.HUNTING KILLERS WITH MARK WILLIAMS-THOMAS will be at York Barbican, York, doors are from 8pm, Mon 13 March 2023. As soon as I listened to the last word I missed the audiobook and I am sure sooner rather than later I will sit down and listen to it again and I would imagine I will get something even better and deeper from it the next time round. This perspective and the work he has done to try and provide justice for families of unsolved murder or missing person cases was admirable. I am perhaps biased in my opinion of Mark but genuinely, if this book had left me indifferent, I would have been honest in this review.

The author read the audio a tiny bit odd with pauses in the wrong places which became quite obvious as the book went on. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).It felt a little unsatisfying to hear about cases that were still unsolved and I think that took away from the book a little. Mark Williams-Thomas has written a very good book and is honest in his thoughts and how he works towards a result, if he is able to. Prosecutors who seek the death penalty put their lives on the line if the guilty are later found innocent. This book is for everybody and it would make a great audiobook for someone going away on holiday and I think it would be a great audiobook to take on a long-haul flight or for the daily commute to work and in contrast a student or indeed any one with an interest in True Crime criminology or related subject would find listening to this audiobook, a great learning tool. I have come across some very interesting audiobooks but for me the narrator's voice is the most important component of an audiobook.
