Does the Pentax SP have better fov edge sharpness than the Olympus, and what sort of field of view do you get?

I did try these before settling on the Pentax SP 8x40 - reason being these Olympus have BK7 prisms, which present a square exit pupil. I think that is very sound advice as the Bushnell's have a solid reputation; my sister had several Olympus 35mm cameras over the years and I always liked their design philosophy which I why I made the purchase. Thanks to the Porro prism, you can view a clear and sharp image through the barrel within a closest focusing distance of 4 m. Then once you have this short list, I would narrow them down to the final choice by looking at the featue=res that are most important to you. If you don't do this, then the wide field of view claimed for this unit will not appear, the entire outside perimeter of vision will be vignetted (shadowed).I'm still waiting for a properly clear night to have a decent look around but so far I can recommend them. However having said that I have reviewed a number of low cost roof prisms, like for example the Vanguard Spirit XF 10x42 in the table above that are not phase corrected, yet in my opinion they still produce an image that is far superior to that of very cheap binoculars. However, these coatings cost money and so to keep the manufacturing costs down on cheap binoculars, they will not only reduce the amount of glass surfaces that they coat, but also the amount of layers of these coatings on the surface that they do coat. I had the Olympus DPS 1 and sold it very quickly, I really didnt think much of it, it is ok for the money but thats about it. One difference that really stands out for me is that the Olympus is advertised as only having a “Monolayer Coating”, where as you can see all the other examples I have listed are Fully Multi-Coated.

Surprisingly, even though its eye-relief is not much, it offers good comfort for bespecatacled people like me.The monopod is great, I managed 15 minutes with it before bed as the clouds lifted long enough for a look at Jupiter with 3 moons just visible.

To better guess their value for astro viewing, could you comment on (i) glare, flare and internal reflections when looking at the Moon (or a streetlight), and (ii) how much of that 8° FOV gives good image quality? Olympus 8x40 DPSI Binoculars Black In superb used condition Purchased new 5 years ago and have remained virtually unused ever since. Cheapish bins do not give clear views, and suffer from colour fringing, which is not desirable when trying to I d a bird. When viewing from a fixed location and there’s a need to close-in on a subject, check out the powerful zoom of the 8-16x40 Zoom DPS I. Also, these binoculars have maximum image brightness and built-in dioptric correction that adjusts to your eyesight.Fully Multi-Coated” optics is ideal as ALL the glass surfaces have received Multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings which usually results in a transmission level of approx. Your eyes are prone to harmful UV rays of the sun, especially while bird watching or terrestrial viewing.
