Well the job turned out OK but I have to say that I found sawing off the olives quite fiddly without cutting into the pipe or stressing it too much - and I am quite a patient person. I have the non-plier olive puller and I'm very unhappy with it, as said it takes a lot of effort and it leaves the pipe end mushroomed. John Collier, Chairman of Monument Tools wants inventors to feel comfortable when approaching a manufacturer to design and market their invention. Often inventors have no experience of working with manufacturers, let alone bringing a product to market.

The Made In Britain product is available in Monument, Instinct and Entity brands. The Ox version of the olive cutter is not Made In Britain. The Nerrad version of the olive cutter was originally supplied by Monument.I need to replace a radiator and rad valves on a 30 year old 8mm microbore system and will take the opportunity to fit a TRV. The Monument Olive Cutting Tool is designed to remove an olive from copper pipe without damaging the pipe and without producing swarf/debris. The Olive Cutter and Olive Puller work in different ways and at different angles. The Olive Cutter is great where there is little room at the end of the pipe. The olive puller works where there is more room. This product also has a power tool attachment which some times helps when the olive is severely compressed onto the pipe. Olive Remover brands To use a screw type olive cutter, the process is the same, except you screw the tool to cut instead of squeezing. Its very easy to use a solder coupler to fit a new length of tube. Once the tube has been compressed it will be difficult to fit a new olive anyway.
