Ash was an enigma for her, the crazy bad boy that she couldn't stay away from, even though she was trying to...

I liked the family drama portions much more than the mystery element (did she fall or was she pushed) especially the relationship Rob and Jo have with their two children, growing pains for everyone as they leave home and make questionable choices.Meanwhile, Sasha – Jo and Rob’s daughter – is nothing more than a spoilt, self-centred brat! She gets everything she wants, throws a tantrum when she doesn’t and is seemingly happy to go along with deceiving Jo on the basis she gets a nice flat out of it. Her boyfriend is, unsurprisingly, not approved of by her parents who see him as nothing more than a passing fancy. He’s not like them, so therefore he must be ‘trouble’ and certainly not good enough for their precious daughter. In reality they’re perfect for each other, both being self-centred, smug individuals who genuinely seem to think they’re above everyone else. I did kind of guess where this was going but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment reading this. The band's four-week run at No.1 was the most for any single in the UK in 1980. Having held off considerable competition from Ottawan with " D.I.S.C.O." and " Baggy Trousers" by Madness, the Police fell to No.3 (being replaced at No.1 by " Woman in Love" by Barbra Streisand). "Don't Stand So Close To Me" spent a total of 8 weeks inside the UK top 40, dropping out on 22 November. Three weeks later, their follow-up hit "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" charted at No.9, eventually peaking at No.5. While the story line is good/intriguing, I was confused by the timeline that switched between Before the fall (with different increments of the months) and After the fall. I felt like I was reading different versions of the same events over and over. I also felt the story was being told by Jo, but I wasn't experiencing it. I was never pulled in or interested in finding out the truth.

A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. So this was a great psychological read, it kept my interest and pulled me in, the writing was superb, and the storyline very easy to follow. The next day she gets a call from her friend saying she saw Ash with another girl named Mia. She is hurt that just last night he was making out with her and now he is with someone else. Few hours later Ash messages her to come down he wants to talk to her and she is all like no go talk to Mia. 🙄🙄 I have no frame of reference for what just happened and no idea what to do next. He’s my husband of twenty-four years; I thought I knew everything about him.” I myself have grown up children there is no way on this planet I would be paying for their accommodation.

UK: Virgin Books. pp.421–424. ISBN 978-0-7535-2200-4. The story is told entirely from Jo’s POV, each chapter alternating between the months leading up to the fall and the days and weeks after it. As the two timelines converge, the facts surrounding Jo’s fall and the events leading up to it are slowly revealed to the reader and to Jo, who gradually regains her memory – or at least some of it – as she’s reintroduced to key people in her life. Oh, and what are we to make of the fact that Jo seems to be menopausal? As Chekhov said: don’t leave an oestrogen deficiency providing a host of symptoms including dizziness, brain fog and paranoia on the mantelpiece in the first act if you’re not going to exploit them in the third. Overall, this was a solid debut. It felt a little slow in parts, but that's expected when it's a more character focused suspense. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more from Amanda Reynolds in the future!

I had a great difficulty connecting with Jo. She wasn't a likable character at all. Truth is, I had a hard time finding any likable character in the book. I found the dialogue frustrating at times. Everyone talking but with no urgency to fill in the gaps of her memory! With this same behavior repeated over and over with very little progress, the book seemed to slow to a crawl. As we travel through the years and their tumultuous hate you, but I like you, but I'm not going to tell you that these two put us through is what made this book so enjoyable, from their first kiss, to more I was rooting along with everyone else that these two became a couple. She grounded him, and brought the best out of him, and together they were just perfect. I couldn't get enough of them. This story follows them over their four years of high school, and time jumps a bunch at the start. These two try to avoid each other, but the spark is just there between them. If you enjoy teenage angst, then this book is for you. I realize that real teenagers of today have bigger problems and focus on more than just their love lives, who their friends are, and one day playing college football, but sometimes the simpler angst is what you’re looking for. You can find it here. That’s not to say that there aren’t some heavy situations in this one, because there are. She can't remember what she did - or what happened the night she fell. But she's beginning to realise she might not be as good a wife and mother as she thought." Nielson traveled between England and her native Denmark for filming. She added that she found the south coast of England 'lovely'.The Police's 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' Gets a Social Distancing Remix Courtesy of Dave Audé". Billboard . Retrieved 7 April 2021. Ma. Reynolds has something to say and I look forward to her future works. In CLOSE TO ME she blows the door wide open on familial issues: indifference in relationships, the solitary life couples lead once they are empty nesters, realizing the family glue is the children and no effort has been taken to preserve the first love. Strong, thought provoking messages, unraveled in a tragic setting, but is is an important read. Close to Me was filmed in 2020 when coronavirus restrictions were in place in England. Cast and crew adhered to strict safety protocols. And as such no positive case arose within the 80 member shoot. Close to Me: Cast
