On February 20, 2020, Variety reported that Bateman left the project and James Bobin is in talks to replace him. There is no set board to this game, instead the board is made up of twelve tiles which are laid out randomly as players enter new rooms, to create a 4x3 grid.

The broken toy idea does seem more similar to investigating a murder than the missing cake does, but it raises some questions about the scenario - this version of Cluedo Junior has the regular suspects but chibified, rather than actual kid versions of them or kids with the same colour names.
