NIKE Men's Metcon 6 Soccer Shoe
- Brand: Unbranded
Description
From here you can see that the Nano X is taller, but more importantly – look at the toe area – it’s much wider. This is a very comfortable shoe for those with wider feet. Overall, it’s just like a regular Nike Metcon 6. The TPU heel frame is labeled "step"– that’s how you depress it to slide your foot in. Durability is a massive consideration for cross-training shoes. From toe drags to rope climbs to box jumps, your shoes are going to take a beating. Rope climbs are notorious for shredding uppers and midsoles, but box jumps and other dynamic lateral movements can wear down the toe. Consider your workouts and choose accordingly. Materials Some of our testers have very wide feet, and some run closer to normal range. This iteration of Reebok’s popular Nano training line features an extra-wide toe box that allows athletes to grip the floor with their toes during running, lifting, and ballistic movements. The Nike Metcon 6 X pays homage to classic Metcon colorways – what a crazy looking shoe! This will be a collector’s item for sure as it is only be made in very limited quantities.
Nike Metcon 6 review – Workout shoes for hardcore sessions - T3
You can run in these, but remember that the heel (which is firm, stable) doesn’t have much cushion. The Nike Metcon 6 performs really well in lifting settings. The outsole and midsole are plenty stable for supporting a variety of loads and I’ve squatted up to 365 lbs in this model with no issues with compression and have deadlifted up to 475 lbs. The only reason it didn’t get a full 10/10 was its performance during a run, even a short one, as part of a workout or warm-up. The Metcon 5 felt heavy and stiff when it came to moving through the running gait. The sole in the Metcon 6 seems to have found the perfect balance between running and lifting job descriptions. Nike Metcon 6 for HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (Burpees, Box Jumps, Kettlebells, Lunges) Both shoes have the same rope wrap (the part where that tough rubber outsole wraps up around the midfoot of the shoe). Shape, sizing, are unchanged.Compared to previous Nike Metcon models, the Metcon is definitely up there for my preferred model (the 4 is still my fave though!) Below, I’ve provided my thoughts on how the Nike Metcon 6 performs in lifting, plyometrics, and day-to-day/shorter run settings. The Reebok Nano X uses the same split-outsole that was on the Reebok Nano 9. Flat, all-rubber, and tons of grip. The Nike Metcon 6 also carries forward the outsole from the 5. Both are good, but the Metcon 6 has more rope climbing potential – I think.

The men’s version of the “Robot” Metcon 6 AMP is as stylish as the women’s version – but a little more manly and subdued. Some find running tedious, only grudgingly incorporating it into workouts. Others swear by it and work to supplement their running with lower-body weight training. Regardless, if you’re cross-training, then light runs are probably part of your workout. In the Nike Metcon 7, the outsole has been brought in slightly at mid-foot and the heel now has more convexity to it. The tread also has been redone from the previous Nike Metcon 5 and 6 outsole tread. When it comes to lifting, both the Nike Metcon 6 and Nike Metcon 7 offer plenty of stability. I’ve deadlifted over 500 lbs in each cross-training shoe and never had any major issues with compression and stability. I think most folks who train under 500 lbs will be plenty fine with each model’s ability to promote stable positioning.

I wear an 11 in just about every other Nike shoe – and shoes from other brands like Reebok, UA, etc.) The tongue is attached in a partial bootie to the upper, meaning it stays put when working out and makes getting the shoe on and off easily.

During a metcon workout, you moderately to intensely exert yourself for a prolonged amount of time. Basically, these types of workouts help increase and optimize your body’s energy output. First, although metcon, HIIT, and Tabata workouts seem similar, they’re not interchangeable. During HIIT workouts, you’re typically working at 80% of your max, and even higher during Tabata.
Nike Metcon 6 Premium Review – In Summary
With agility and plyometrics, I think this model does a fairly good job at supporting performance. It’s stable and the split insole construction does provide a bit of responsiveness in the forefoot. This is pretty noticeable during repetitive bounding activities.
