Arsenal have now conceded the two fastest goals at home in the Premier League this season, the other being Philip Billing's strike after 9.11 seconds for Bournemouth. Arsenal raised the tempo in the closing stages - including seven minutes of added time - as they searched for a winner but Brentford completed an excellent defensive display by holding firm for a point. As I've said, Manchester City and Liverpool are my top two this season, but I don't think Arsenal will be too far behind in third and, if they want to push for the title again, they know they need to win games like this one. This is not the killer instinct Arsenal demand and it looked like he, and his team-mates, just wanted to revel in possession and enjoy themselves rather than go for the jugular. League leaders Arsenal are looking to maintain their stay at the top of the table as they take the short trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham who are at the other end of the table and only three points above the relegation zone.

Demi: Perfect result lads. We might not have played at our best but we had the desire to win. Saka at his finest again and Havertz is now motivated. Arsenal have had 10 goals scored via substitutes this season in all competitions, the joint most of any Premier League side (Brighton also 10). Their reasons for doing so became more obvious in this game, with Caitlin Foord summing up their struggles by misjudging a chip when clean through late on, sending it into the stands. On the face of it, Brentford got walloped 3-0 at Liverpool last time out but look past the scoreline and they were competitive for long periods of that game. Eidevall told Sky Sports: "The performance was big from us today. There's not many teams who come to Leigh Sports Village and are the better team than Manchester United are, especially when you see the number of goalscoring opportunities. On Wout Weghorst and Bruno Fernandes: "For a striker [Wout Weghorst] was so close so many times. He has already created chances and goals for others and he deserved his goal. Like the Spaniard, he attempted a short pass to the edge of his area, but Alcaraz pounced and fired home across the Arsenal keeper. Bruno [Fernandes] was fantastic. He led the team with his control of the game and passing and then he scored a goal." Ramsdale had clearly not learned from Manchester United keeper David de Gea's error the day before.

Arsenal are favourites to claim the points today, and with the extra rest they have had compared to their hosts it will take a supreme performance from West Ham to upset the odds. But title run ins are never simple and with Ings and Co still very much in a relegation dogfight Arteta's side will doubtless be prepared for typical London derby - tough with no inches given. While Arsenal have been affected badly by absences - Granit Xhaka missed this match through illness, while key defender William Saliba remains out injured - this draw, more than those against Liverpool and West Ham, indicated the pressure may be getting to them in the title race. We definitely deserved to win today from an opportunities standpoint - but if you don't score, you won't win."Eidevall was needing a decent result coming into this game after a poor start to the 2023-24 campaign. Chelsea looked like winners of this game for so long that to let it slip so late and so carelessly will almost feel like a defeat for Mauricio Pochettino and his players. That final third is the area they need to improve. Defensively we know they're sound and have lost one game all season. The defensive third and midfield third look really good. Declan Rice has bough solidity there, it's really working. So this is going to be far from easy for Arsenal. They won here at the start of last season, but the Bees' home form is very strong and we know how well-balanced they are, and how awkward they are are to play against.

Martin Odegaard claimed the second in a collective defensive brain freeze from West Ham but he, too, then became more and more indulgent and stopped playing with the incision that has so marked him out during his captaincy. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports: "It was a little bit typical for us this season and for Arsenal as well, it was a completely open game. They scored with the first situation and not too long after they scored the second one and our problems were big enough but we made them even bigger. There were also two pivotal moments. Last weekend Granit Xhaka needlessly riled Liverpool and roused Anfield by clashing with Trent Alexander-Arnold when Arsenal were 2-0 up.But then the reaction was good, it was a spectacular game in the end. How we cannot win it, I don't know, with the chances we had. On Aaron Ramsdale: "Every player wants to improve. He [Ramsdale] is not any different. They [players] want their best for the team not the manager with their contribution." Only then did the Gunners rouse themselves as Oleksandr Zinchenko, on the night he became the first Ukrainian to make 100 Premier League appearances, called an inquest among all 11 Arsenal players in the centre circle.

For long periods, Chelsea impressed and looked like a side finally heading in the right direction after a horrendous period on and off the pitch. We lost control after half time, lost far too many simple balls and it became a very open and chaotic game which they love. They could have scored three or four, missed a penalty and Aaron (Ramsdale) made a couple of great saves. But we had some big breakaways and could have scored two or three. In the end, the result is fair.Following Leandro Trossard’s equaliser, we have now had five goals scored by substitutes in the Premier League this season with only Brighton having more (7). The lesson is from the first 35 minutes and how we played coming to a ground like this and what we did. But we have to continue to do this regardless of the crowd and the result to go and look for a third and fourth goal." This is a bit of a rogue one but I might go for a draw here, with a few goals. Brentford can be unreal some weeks but they don't always show up. Chelsea have won just one of their last 12 home Premier League games (D6 L5), a 3-0 victory against Luton at Stamford Bridge at the end of August.
