Description

Use our Starter fertiliser. Then start feeding as a mature lawn after about 3-4 months according to one of the three programmes outlined in the Fertiliser Buying Guide. When to apply At A1 Lawn we believe life is better with a garden, and we want to make your lawns and plants as happy as they make us. ADDED NUTRIENTS - The added iron helps to ‘green up’ your lawn. The magnesium makes photosynthesis more efficient, turning more sunlight to energy & making the grass more green and lush. The seaweed adds essential minerals & breaks down the soil which helps to release more nutrient content. Granular products can be applied by hand (for small lawns or awkward areas) or spreader. Because Lawnsmith®granular fertilisers don't contain pesticides you can use a rotary or broadcast spreader which is faster and gives a more even distribution compared to a drop spreader.

Applying soil conditioners such as manure and compost helpmake nutrients, water and air all more available to plant roots asthe soil forms into crumbs with spaces for air and water between them.

If you have weeds and/or moss in your lawn then use a weed, feed and moss killer to save time and money on buying and applying weed killer for lawns and lawn fertiliser separately. BEST FOR THE UK CLIMATE – A1 Lawn ultimate fertilisers are freshly produced in the UK, professional grade & designed to work with the British weather. This ensures fast germination & delivers a strong & healthy lawn every year. Use March, April, May, June, July & August. Apply when showers are predicted or water in well.

If the winter we have experienced has been cold and dry but still with a good amount of light then damage to the turf will be considerably less than if the winter is a wet and cloudy one due to the damage that would be caused from low light conditions and excess water from rainfall. Now even though fertilising your lawn may not be necessary for robotic lawn mower owners, keeping to an effective lawn fertilisation schedule can be very beneficial to your lawn and could give it that extra edge over your neighbours. Just beware you can’t apply fertiliser without careful consideration and planning – you should know the types of nutrients your lawn needs, how and when is suitable time to apply, otherwise they could have detrimental effects. To determine an optimum programme for your lawn we need to establish soil type. This is because different soils hold and release water, air and nutrients differently. A clay soil holds nutrients better than a sandy soil therefore a sandy soil will need a slightly stronger mix of nutrients than a clay one. This also means a slightly reduced cost for clay soil fertilisers.Identify the type of grass plants in your lawn as some require more nutrients (ryegrass) and some less nutrients (fescues). We suggest using either Nutrigrow Spring Lawn (granular) or the Spring Gem Fertiliser (soluble) from our fertiliser range. Both benefit from balanced formulations, giving your lawn everything it needs to help prevent weeds and moss from establishing. You can spread by hand or through a fertiliser spreader (see ‘How to use a fertiliser spreader’ guide for further guidance). If you are seeding a new lawn then it's highly recommended to use a Pre-seeder fertiliser prior to sowing the grass seed.

If conditions are right, which means the grass is growing and there is moisture in the soil then it is best to apply Lawnsmith® Fertilisers straight after mowing. You can also apply before or after rain. Feeding AND Weeding We then added Fertilisers to keep your lawns healthy and looking great all year round, and a huge selection of high-quality professional Weed Killers for hard surfaces, lawn use and for specialised treatments, along with Hard Surface Cleaners for algae & moss on multiple types of surfaces.A balanced blend of N:P:K nutrients is ideal for during the cooler, spring weather for grass plants to utilise. Take a pea sized bit of soil and smear it between your fingers. If it feels smooth and silky it has a clay base. If it feels finely ‘gritty’ then it has a sand base. Hopefully the results from your two tests give the same answer! NITROGEN RICH GRASS FERTILISER – The high nitrogen content (NPK 10-4-4) of our lawn feed will improve your grass’ lush green leafy growth during Spring & Summer. The Phosphorus aids healthy grass roots & shoots whilst the Potassium gives a strong, hardy & more durable grass, to give you an all year round great looking lawn. When selecting a fertiliser for over seeding where young grass development is more important always select the sandy soil option.
