The pair made the unusual decision to blend fruit from two different Italian wine regions;Tuscany and Abruzzo, to achieve the precise flavour and style they desired. A blend of 50% old vine Tuscan Sangiovese and 30% Montepulciano and Merlot from Abruzzo this Gordan Ramsay Intenso Rosso is a show stopping red wine from one of the world’s most famous Chefs. Ramsay said: “Italy and Italian wines have a special place in my heart. Tana and I have spent some incredibly happy times in this amazing country and many of those moments were made even better by a beautiful glass of wine.” In development for years, Ramsay’s Gordon Ramsay Italian Collection combines his natural passion with the “heart and soul” of Italian winemaking, made using ingredients the chef considers to be among the best Italy has to offer.

Facts– 13.5% alc.; 50% Montepulciano and 15% Merlot (from Abruzzo) & 20% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot (from Tuscany); After fermentation, the wine was kept on the fine lees for 2-3 months to add texture and complexity, and 15% went through malolactic fermentation. The collection features three wines: a red, white and rosé and is said to combine his personal passion for winemaking and superb ingredients. Believing the contents to be the best that Italy has to offer, he was quoted in The Drinks Business, saying: Gordon Ramsay becomes the latest celebrity to launch his own range of wines, following in the footsteps of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Sir Ian Botham and, most recently, Gary Barlow. Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay has announced the launch of his own range of Italian wines, Gordon Ramsay Italian Collection, created in partnership with Benchmark Drinks and renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini. The wines featured below comprise some of the top-scoring entries in the tasting, which was done ‘blind’, meaning that the judges – all of whom where Masters of Wine – had no knowledge about the samples being assessed, aside from the price band, and whether or not the reds were oak-influenced. The collection comprises three wines: a red, white and rosé, and is available exclusively at Tesco or online via winedelivered.co.uk.

I’m not saying today’s celebrities don’t get excited about wine, or the idea of a bottle with their name on it, but celebrity wine is now also about monetising the brand. It’s a merchandising line. And everyone wants to do it. Paul Schaafsma is an affable Australian who ran one of the world’s biggest wine companies before setting up Benchmark Drinks and creating range after range of celebrity-branded wine. He’s “done” Ian Botham, Gordon Ramsay, Gary Barlow and, most successfully of all, Kylie Minogue, and receives regular requests from agents and stars who’d like to be a wine too. The research also looked into the best celebrity liquors with Jason Derulo's Bedlam Vodka providing the best value for money.

2020 Gordon Ramsay Intenso Rosso from Italy (LCBO $17)

Wine has always fascinated me - a complex marriage of tradition art science land and people all captured together in a glass.”– Gordon Ramsay It wasn't until 2021 that Gordon Ramsay announced the launch of his Italian wine collection, aptly named the Gordon Ramsay Italian Collection, in partnership with Benchmark Drinks and renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini. When it came to launching my own wine range, it was very important to set the same standards and quality as I expect in my restaurants,” he added.

Serving suggestion: Drink it ice cold as an aperitif or with a light salad such as Panzanella. it'saalso great with seafood risotto or a fresh capresse salad. Following our Spring Tasting earlier this year, we bring you 14 brilliant red wines from the competition, including some great-value Nebbiolo, Bordeaux and Brunello along with an impressive new red from Gordon Ramsay. As the latest celebrity wine – Cali Rosé, from the US rapper Snoop Dogg – hits the shelves, we take a look at what’s out there. One word on the marking: I take price into account when I score, and I also think about what else is available for a lower price. Snoop Dogg Gordon Ramsay OBE is famous around the world as a celebrity chef. With a string of his successful restaurants, books and TV appearances, he has been awarded 17 Michelin stars overall, and has a reputation for saying it as he sees it. With that culinary pedigree it's perhaps no surprise that he also found his way into the world of wine - after all, if you're creating excellent food, you want to pair it with the perfect drink. Gordon Ramsay's journey into the world of wine The wines –which were “years in development and driven by memorable times spent in Italy” –were developed alongside winemaker Alberto Antonini.

Facts– 14% alc.; 50% Sangiovese (from Tuscany) & 30% Montepulciano and 20% Merlot (from Abruzzo); 20% spent 9-12 months in 5 year old large oak casks. Grapes have been grown here since at least 1583, when Count Daniele Malabaila had a vineyard and a dairy farm on the property. This wine reflects the terroir admirably. Red fruit aromas and flavours of raspberry, redcurrant and cranberry are accented by gentle spice and tobacco, rose petal and mountain herbs. A midweight wine of superb elegance, it shows racy acidity and linen-textured tannins, with dried red fruits and floral lift on the finish. An ethereal expression of pure Nebbiolo that will work well with lighter meats or pastas adorned with mixed mushrooms or autumnal truffles. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW) Gordon and Alberto Antonini are a match made in heaven; they each strive to create top quality products in their own fields and together they’ve blended a beautiful collection of wines. We’re delighted to have partnered with them.” You can read our exclusive interview with Barlow on the launch of his organic wine range from Spain here.

Pale straw in colour with notes of white flowers and aromas of fresh green apple and white peach. This wine is vibrant and juicy on the palate. It has a refreshing acidity with a long mineral finish and can be enjoyed with seafood risotto or a fresh caprese salad.”

Having run a three Michelin star restaurant for more than two decades Gordon Ramsay has tasted his fair share of the finest wines on the planet. Inspired by them and the happy times he spent touring Italy with his wife Tana the celebrity chef decided to release his own wine range. Obviously it needed to be crafted to the same high standards he expects in his restaurants so he teamed up with one of the world’s most famous winemakers Alberto Antonini. The Tuscan-born oenologist has shaped fine wine immeasurably through his work with Antinori Frescobaldi Poggiotondo Concha y Toro Seghesio Altos Los Hormigas Chakana Bodega Garzon and countless others. The rosé –Elegante Rosato 2020 – had “a fragrant floral palate” with “fresh red cherry aromas”, said the brand.
