Players of the Masque of the Winter Sun wear the Aeldari rune of Unseen Mysteries, a combination of two Aeldari runes. The Masque of the Dance Without End falls upon its foes like an avalanche, appearing as if from thin air with guns already blazing. Their belief system is intertwined with the Fall, as Cegorach is one of the few Eldar deities reckoned to have survived it in some way.

Harlequins carry out several self-appointed duties since their first reappearance after the Fall of the Eldar, the most central of which is putting on theatrical performances of Eldar History. Deaf to the mockery of their perverted kin, they eschewed the trappings of power that they might save their very souls. Their razor-sharp focus drives the masque to pursue their agenda to the extent that no action is too extreme. This box contains everything you need to assemble a 6-man Harlequin Troupe, complete with swords and shuriken pistols.

The organisation of a Harlequin masque is unusual by the standards of the most of the forces fighting in the Dark Millennium -- after all, it is formed from multiple bands of dancers, mimes and other dramatic performers.

The Harlequins are both servants of the Laughing God - the only deity of their race to survive the mighty Fall - and custodians of the hallowed Black Library of Chaos. Just as the Eldar on the Craftworlds funnel every aspect of their psyche into a single Path, so the Harlequins turn their minds absolutely to playing their allotted role. However, many amongst their audiences reacted with hostility, forcing these early Harlequins to become proficient in combat. Curiously, no one has ever disappeared from the Craftworld following a performance, though whether the inhabitants are cursed, blessed or simply not of interest to the Harlequins of the Twisted Path is unknown. Harlequins are undeniably part of the Aeldari species, yet they owe no allegiance to any given Asuryani craftworld or Drukhari kabal, a kindred apart from their fellows. With lightning-fast movements and deadly skills, these warriors strike fear into the hearts of their enemies before they even have a chance to react.

Some are supposedly drawn from amid bustling crowds, beckoned into the shadows by a masked figure only they can see. It is not enough to simply kill their enemies -- they must be made examples of in the most extravagant manner. As the Eldar are a scattered race, Harlequins constantly tour the domains of their species (as well as other places; Harlequins believe other species should be told the stories of the Eldar as well) in their duty to perform. Using illusion and guile, the outnumbered Harlequins lead their rage-blind foes into the Shattered Rift, before crushing them in a razor-edged landslide.

So I was wondering how it was best to run them like what size units and what characters to have in the army if any. When Yriel fought the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Kraken he bested several of the Hive Mind's greatest warriors in personal combat, but many have questioned why a great noble of such status would draw a weapon that will claim his life. Gates long sealed burst open to admit a legion of nightmares, and malefic Chaos worshippers found themselves at liberty to strike at the labyrinth dimension like never before. The Masque of the Twisted Path are some of the most sinister of all Harlequins, luring friends and foes into the Webway never to be seen again. The rune worn by the Reaper's Mirth is an ancient symbol that represents both the first blooding of a weapon and the last breath of an enemy.

In these pageants, each Harlequin plays the role of one of the figures from Aeldari legend, acting out stylised versions of Aeldari mythic cycles. The Harlequins, along with other mysterious guardians, watch over and protect the Black Library inside of the webway. All the while, the enemy wrestles with their worst fears reflected back at them in the Harlequins' ever-shifting masks. To reach this fabled realm, one must court madness itself, travelling secret passages through the Webway, evading the gaze of the horrifying entities that stand guard, and unlocking one of the library's cunningly hidden entrances amid veils of riddle and illusion. M30) - The civilisation of the ancient Aeldari Empire is annihilated by the catastrophic birth of Slaanesh.

Indeed, so deep is their connection to the Laughing God that it is rumoured the Webway itself flexes and shifts at this masque's behest. On one hand they strike alliances with the pawns of the Corpse God, and on the other they slaughter his slaves without mercy. This rule opens up a whole barrel of laughs (and options) for your army, as on top of the mandatory Troops and HQ choices, a Patrol Detachment has two slots each for Elite, Fast Attack, and Heavy Support units.
