In practice the f2 is just more practical and the stop of light is really not worth the weight unless you really need that shallower depth of field. Camera-original X-Pro2 file to explore on your computer; mobile devises rarely show the full resolution property. I have used it in the desert of the United Arab Emirates, on a rainy day in Prague, and never worried about it due to the fact that it is weather-resistant, WR. This Fujifilm lens is beautifully made with a metal exterior, which results in a surprisingly heavy optic for its compact size.

The dedicated aperture ring is also mandatory for real photography, but absent on most other brands of lenses. If you are looking to save a couple of hundred dollars and want the image quality of the XF version, this may be worth a look. The XF 35mm f/2 R WR feels solid with a good sturdy well-operating aperture ring and weighs a mere 6 oz. Since this is such a great multi-purpose lens, I like bringing it to situations where you want to keep things small and light, and you don’t want to be annoying to the people around you with big camera gear.isn't important for digital, where crazy high ISOs let us shoot with pretty much any lens in any light. There is no US patent on the term… Everyone uses it to describe the 50MM lens just as the author did. The exterior of the lens is weather and dust-resistant and can work in temperatures as low as -10°C. Be that as it may and getting back to your images (which is the whole point of our photography, isn’t it, in spite of all the marvellous technology associated with cameras!

R is one of those incredible lenses that gives a fantastic rendering with a certain “something” that just can’t be translated into performance charts.I know this comment is being made long after you wrote this review but it isn’t until recently that I’ve seriously been considering getting the 35mm lens. I like to apply it to lenses that are designed all for sharpness and or perfect smooth bokeh at the cost of everything else.

The smoothness of the OOF areas is much improved, and I actually prefer the 35mm f/2 bokeh to that of the 35mm f/1. This was the first of my F2 lens series lens and II have never been disappointed and the size of these lenses is to me an engineering feat as well. But the f2 lens excels with utility, fast autofocus and weather sealing makes it a better utility lens, especially for video.Out-of-focus highlights behind the subject may have green fringes, and out-of-focus highlights in front of the subject may have magenta fringes in some limited instances. This is not a lens I would mount if I wanted to smear some ghosting across the frame, but if I needed to shoot towards the sun without ghosting, it’s an excellent choice. and f2 – and even if there was, the quicker and quieter autofocus could be enough for street and portrait shooters to make the switch. All of the shots against the light have good solid colour and sharpness, with no trace of loss of contrast and no sign of internal reflections. Another sample of the foreground and background bokeh and how the swirling effect influences the out of focus areas.

When considering the use and feel and the overall design of this lens, the Fujinon 35mm f2 is one of Fujifilm’s best. You also really need to shoot at f11 to f16 before they are really very noticeable, but shooting this closed down also yields some red dot sensor flares. I think that’s related more to the focal length than Fuji making progress with their engineering, but I figure it’s worth asking about what you noticed with the 35 f2. The very best protective filter is the Hoya multicoated HD3 43mm UV which uses hardened glass and repels dirt and fingerprints, and is also multicoated. The Fuji Views blog contains thoughts and opinions on Fujifilm, the compact mirrorless camera market, and photography in general. This is, in fact, a slightly longer than usual standard, which some photographers may find to their liking, especially if they find themselves routinely cropping slightly. The close focusing point of 35cm is slightly closer than the norm for a lens of this type, but nowhere near being a macro lens. The outer barrel on the XF 35mm is made of metal and the lens mount is made of metal, while the XC lens is all plastic.
