I haven't noticed a big price hike in Nikon flashes compared to their past history, though when features are added such as active cooling in the SB-5000, greater zoom range, and radio control, it is understandable that the price does increase somewhat. A comparison to Yongnuo or Godox can be made of course, they are cheaper but to my knowledge there are no repair facilities across the world. I need a financially healthy Nikon over the course of a longer period of time and buying Nikon accessories helps with that, so I do that rather than complain when they go bankrupt and suddenly I have no support or repair parts for the Nikon gear that I use.

The remote works quite well. It controls flash settings, so you don't have to move away from your camera to switch to HSS or manual power control, and can control up to five groups of lights independently. The XPro TTL is one link in the chain where you'll need to keep AA batteries handy—it's powered by a pair.It can be used with a wide range of Nikon cameras, which makes it highly versatile for the needs and requirements of any photographer.

The TTL Li-ion round head camera flash V1 adopts a round head to offer studio-level soft and even light effects. Its powerful functions and wide range of accessories make it the perfect portable lighting option for portrait, wedding, event, travel, and still life photography. MULTIPLE USER FUNCTIONS It is a bit unclear to me if the app only works on very few specific Android phone for everything or if they mean only for the camera part. They listed very few Samsung and Huawei phones as compatible. Unfortunately my Mate P20 is not only list. Modeling Light: this is a great tool to have when you are working in tight spaces and can’t set up your flash on a stand when you need the smallest bit of continuous light (lighting rings, highlighting small areas in the frame, etc.). You’ll read later how this is also a Con for this particular flash.

Accessory Kit

That's for a pair of RC units only compatible with the latest Nikon DSLRs and Zs with a max reach of 100ft vs 330ft and comptability with every DSLR

The Godox V1 TTL Li-ion flash has a round head to provide soft and even illumination, like studio units. Activating the modeling lamp then allows you to set its output with the jog dial as well. Although it isn’t the brightest light I’ve seen, it could be used in dark situations to visualize how your light is falling or assist with focus. It also has 10 different power settings, meaning you can adjust it to your needs. The included lithium-ion battery now slides into the side of the flash to save a little space and has 480 advertised full-power pops versus the V860's 650. I can't say I've ever needed 300 full power flashes from a speedlight in any given session, let alone 650. So, 480 seems like a good number to me. In terms of size and weight, the V1 weighs slightly less than the V860II at 530g and is slightly bulkier thanks to the round head. The body of the unit is slightly thinner than its older brother, however, giving it an overall more compact feel. The V1 includes a dot matrix LCD like we’ve seen on their other models. However, this time the default color is a bright blue that makes the screen easy to read, even in bright daylight. As with the V860, the screen turns orange when slave mode is activated to give you an easy way to know which mode the flash is in. As with other models, the buttons on the flash are context sensitive and their current function is displayed on the screen. This makes it easy to know exactly what the buttons are going to do as you work. The V1 sets itself apart from other options on the market by its sheer versatility. Capable of doing almost everything a regular speedlight does, it is also able to operate in a studio and to provide better illumination than a rectangular head. When bouncing the flash, the round head doesn’t matter much, but for direct illumination, or when going through modifiers (softboxes, gobos) the V1 will excel.

It's so simple. My laptop charges on USB-C, my Godox AD200 now has the UC-29 charger, the Fujifilm X-T3 uses USB-C as it's interface, my portable SSDs use it, my phone uses it, Intel runs Thunderbolt through it, AMD will soon have support for the standards. Let's take this standard and run with it. Please. The battery is a smaller capacity than the ever popular v860ii. I’ve found in practice I’m able to shoot two weddings per charge. Whereas the v860ii, I could easily get through three weddings before having to charge the battery.A version of SU-800 with radio transmitter would be a good idea, though it would then not allow simultaneous use of on-camera flash (I don't believe a pass-through system would be mechanically sound; too much torque on the interfaces). Transmitters in the flashes themselves would allow that, but for some reason Nikon went with an auxiliary transmitter using a different port and did not include the transmitter in the SB-5000. Whether this is because the V1 needs more power to flash. Or if it is just poor battery life indicator (like on the XPro's when using rechargeable batteries), I do not know. It just seems worse. Of course it goes without saying that the V1 is fully compatible as both a master and a slave with all Godox products made in the last four years. This is one of the core strengths for Godox so it would be unthinkable that their flagship speedlight would not be compatible! GODOX V1 ROUND HEAD CAMERA FLASH: The TTL Li-ion round head camera flash V1 adopts a round head to offer studio- level soft and even light effects. Its powerful functions and wide range of accessories make it the perfect portable lighting option for portrait, wedding, event, travel and still life photography.
