So it seems the bike runs better and smoother with a sweet addictive smell but it must sludge up the motor over time. I had to confess that none of the perfumes thst I was obliged to smell had any effect upon me whatsoever, some I found sickening, and one had the potential to give me an instant migraine headache. per cent — was sufficient to confer its high film strength on the mix, and thus Wakefield Motor Oil (Castrol Brand) was born.

Its superior oiliness over mineral oils, imparted by the chemical structure of its components, gives it a great affinity for hot surfaces and provides excellent load-carrying properties which is an important consideration with highly stressed engines running at peak revolutions.

Who uses it these days and what with all the amazing modern oil technology around why would anyone use a castor based oil? The "common knowledge" of the time was that you did not mix up any more than you would use that day and you shook the can for at least 5 minutes before pouring the fuel mixture into the tank. Aways ran 80-1 on 747 and never a problem with the trials bikes and imo it is the best 2T oil you can use. Primarily designed for the racing world; however it's unique properties also benefit private owners interested in high performance.

I got a blocked strainer on the oil pickup and the result was an engine seizure in the fast (Sorry overtaking) lane of the M6!Now I am of a certain age I have recently completed an NHS postal test for thispossible problem which I believe is offered to all older people in the UKand thankfully this was negative. I mentioned this to the Club ‘sage’ at one of our social meetings, knowing he used to use Castor oil when he did a bit of scrambling back in the day, (when he was very much younger) and his son races. If you built the motor now and did not use it again until the spring it would need another strip to clean all the gum and corrosion out! do what you want but i advise anyone else not to dump castor oil into your four stroke fuel tank at any ratio,,especially if you just want to smell like roger decoster?

I too thought about using Castrol R, but I seem to remember that it does leave a lot of residue in carbs and after it’s burnt. For the younger readers, a failed bowel blood test (see black shit above) results in a summons for a colonoscopy. I dont know if id use it on a modern bike though also if your putting it in the fuel of a four stroke you will varnish the valves. I would not recommend castor oil for your road bike because you would spend a lot of money changing your oil very frequently and as an ex-racer, you know you MUST NOT mix castor oil with mineral oil.

If the best performance possible coupled with reliability is the aim, then the remarkable stamina and great film strength of Castrol R40 provides a valuable margin of safety at ultra high speeds and temperatures. e. mixed with the petrol, just to give it the distinctive aroma, but he uses mineral based oil in the oil tank.
