Description

We think there are at least five essential considerations when choosing a smaller wok. Size, of course, is the first part to think about. Do you intend to cook for a party of four people? Maybe more or less? Next is your choice of material. Some people have an affinity for cast iron, while others hate it. There are those who swear by aluminum, as well as proponents of carbon steel or stainless steel. You will need a medium to large-sized wok, anything from 16 inches to 20 inches, to cook food for 5 to 6 people. We have wok pans from famous Chinese-American chef Ken Hom, from our Prue’s World collaboration with Prue Leith, and eco-friendly woks made by Earthpan. The Lodge 9 Inch Cast Iron Mini Wok also comes with a matching lid that fits snugly on top, allowing you to braise or steam your food.

It’s PFOA-free, induction-safe, and oven-safe up to 500º! It’s no surprise the HexClad Hybrid line earned impressive scores for consistent heat distribution and retention during the Good Housekeeping Institute’s tests. The tri-ply design includes an outer stainless steel layer with an aluminum core and a patented laser-etched hexagonal pattern for optimal durability and easy release. The only downside? You’ll definitely need to preseason it. To cook great food, you need great tools. And the state of your cooking pots or pans can easily make or break a dish. Choosing to cook in a wok is both a methodological and economical choice. Achieving "wok hei," deep-frying, and stir-frying are undoubtedly technical reasons to use a wok. But also, due to its concentrated heat distribution design, a wok is economical because it makes efficient use of your gas, ingredients, and time. Our selection of wok pans and stir fry pans are all made to an exceptional level of finish and can withstand high temperatures, even oven temperatures up to 180°C. They’re made from materials like aluminium, carbon steel, stainless steel and even 100% recycled metals. Another thing to consider when purchasing a mini wok is the material. Woks are typically made from either carbon steel or cast iron. Pot/frying pan part: To extend the life of your product, we recommand hand washing only. In case of dishwasher use, it is preferable to use gentle detergents such as liquid, gel, or powder, not tablet nor sachet. Certains parts may become dulled and discolored due to action of corrosive detergents. Our guarantee does not cover this type of wear. Unsurprisingly, small-sized woks have shallow walls. They are also less concave than regular-sized woks. So if you need more room for mixing and tossing ingredients, maybe a “larger” wok works best. This may mean opting for a small wok over a mini wok. Handle The small woks mean you aren't wasting resources when cooking smaller volumes. Today, manufacturers offer woks in smaller sizes, ranging from a 6-inch mini wok to an 11-inch small wok. They also provide these small woks at varying bottoms and material types. Some bundle their woks with neat accessories, too.

On top of being dishwasher-safe, the scratch- and scuff-resistant HexClad Hybrid can even be cleaned with scouring pads and steel wool. However, this unique construction may be almost too effective. For instance, although cast iron is heavier than carbon steel, its heat retention is also superior. Indeed, the “perfect” cookware depends on the situation. Your choice, then, boils down to your preferences and cooking needs. Depth and Concavity of Its Walls and Bottom Carbon steel is the more popular option as it is lighter and easier to handle. It is also more responsive to temperature changes, ideal for cooking. However, cast iron woks are heavier and more durable. If you are looking for a wok that will last you a lifetime, cast iron is the way to go.

Woks and Stir Fry Pans

It is difficult to give a number of years, because the service life will differ depending on the conditions of usage and frequency of use. To extend its service life, you should protect it from unnecessarily high temperatures and refrain from heating a pan empty. A medium to low heat is sufficient. Do not store cooked food for a long time (one day or longer). Where can I buy accessories, consumables or spare parts for my appliance? Overall, I’m very impressed with the STAUB Baby Wok. It’s a great option for cooking small meals. It’s well-made, heats evenly, and is easy to clean. If you’re looking for a small wok, I highly recommend the STAUB Baby Wok. Pros
