Description

I can already see at this point that this will be a difficult encounter for the Heroes. Now it’s Zargon’s Turn! Hall, Charlie (November 15, 2021). "Classic board game HeroQuest makes its triumphant return to retail". Polygon . Retrieved 2023-04-30. The heroes are just minding their own business, walking around a dungeon, all of a sudden, they open a door and encounter something they’ve never seen before! A Specter! Along with a host of other enemies that fit the apparent theme of this expansion. For the Dread Wraith, I’ve got an Air Elemental. The actual mini appears to take up 2 spaces, I’ll try to emulate this as best as possible, my Air Elemental takes up 4 spaces, similar to The Frozen Horror. The Dread Cultist will be subbed in for my Crimson Courtiers from Altar Quest. For the Assassin, I’ll be using the Cutpurse, also from Altar Quest. Playtest #1: Dread Wraith, Cultist, & Specters

I created a thread in HQF discord on my RotDM thoughts about available clues a couple weeks ago, but as we've discussed prior threads don't get read. The summer of 2022 Hasbro released online quest two: Into the Northlands by Doug Hopkin, [26] [ bettersourceneeded] and the HeroQuest Adventure Design Kit. [27] [ bettersourceneeded] Edit: Confirmed this is NOT an "alternate cover" to an existing project (Mage of the Mirror or otherwise) or a remake of a legacy product but something "completely new." The value of some potion reagents has fluctuated in this war-torn economy, so you may see some changes to the gold coin value of some of our potions.

Heroquest Rise of the Dread Moon announcement

Reddit user u/allnamesaretaken211 found another version of the image: https://www.reddit.com/r/Heroquest/comments/xvpxml/a_new_adventure_for_2023/ The release of Rise of the Dread Moon expansion adventure set for HeroQuest was shared by Avalon Hill and Hasbro on their official social media channels. What else? Sinestra might just be a tile, otherwise she would be the "big figure" this time, like a big cloud of ghostly energy that would be fun to paint. Or maybe they'll just say something like "if you have Mage of the Mirror, you can use her figure instead of the tile" or something. Maybe the Archers and Warrior swordsmen from MOTM can be used in this one to represent mercenary friends or foes too? The Mythic Tier offered everything in the Heroic Tier, including four gender alternative figures of the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf and Wizard, the imprisoned Sir Ragnar, the wizard Mentor, and the Witch Lord. Stretch Goals included:

With the princess saved, Queen Terrellia may not take kindly to more meddling in Elven affairs. It would seem that the Heroes are unwelcome in Elethorn and must now infiltrate the kingdom to investigate the spread of Dread. Next up is the Guardian Knight, also rolling a 7, he will engage the Dread Warrior as well. The Guardian Knight manages to land just one blow on the Dread Warrior. The Barbarian immediately engages the Magus Guard and manages to get 2 hits on them. The Guardian Knight also engages the Magus Guard, but misses. The Elf decides to stay where she is to protect the Wizard, she casts Sleep on the Assassin closest to her. The Wizard, following the Elf’s instructions to stay put, doesn’t move. I know that it's probably a fool's errand to judge the Box Art too literally as to what the contents are. I think we can safely conclude that the portrayal of the Heroes, as in previous releases is probably non-literal (that is, the male barbarian/dwarf/wizard and female elf are the ones from the Game System, not evidence of new sculpts inside the box of these characters.. though that would be sweet if they had alternates!).

Avalon Hill and parent company Hasbro establishes HeroQuest Day, celebrating the iconic fantasy board game’s rich history, as well as looking towards the future with the release of the Rise of the Dread Moon expansion set. First released in 1989 as a joint venture between Games Workshop and Milton Bradley, HeroQuest is arguably one of the most influential board games in the hobby. Its design and structure helped clear the way for an entire ecosystem of similar titles. The decades since found HeroQuest as a hard-to-find collector’s item until Hasbro and Avalon Hill crowdfunded a new edition in 2020. Players roll two six-sided dice, referred to as "Red Dice" in the game manual, and may then move up to that number of squares. A player does not need to move the full amount of the roll and can end movement at any time. Players may move over a square occupied by another player if the occupying player grants permission, but may not occupy the same square. Doors, monsters, and other objects are placed on the board by the evil wizard player according to line of sight. Once placed on the board they are not removed unless killed, thereby providing a steady stream of monsters for the evil wizard player to use.Important Note: I realized after playing through this scenario that I misread the Channel Dread spell. The caster only gets the perk from adjacent monsters IF the adjacent monster is also capable of casting this spell. This actually makes the spell far less useful if there are fewer Specters on the board. A quest booklet contains 10 scripted adventures that sends a party of two to five adventurers into dangerous locales as they attempt to free Elethorn from the control of returning villain Zargon (extremely genre pulp names, both). Appelcline, Shannon (2011). Designers & Dragons. Mongoose Publishing. p.49. ISBN 978-1-907702-58-7. That’s all I’ve got for this new content for now, but don’t worry, there will be more awesome HeroQuest content coming soon.
