Exactly what codes are you getting, when does it go into limp mode - at start, only when hot, only when booted, loaded etc? Connections between quantity adjuster OB3 (N146) and VW engine control unit (N1:99, N1:106, N1:108, N1:116, N1:121) shorted or faulty. In that 20 mins in which the car was doing the regen, the exhaust temperature may not have reached 600 degrees in the DPF (due to the way in which the car was being driven) and so the fall in saturation may have been 0. A boost hose could have split or popped off, you'd usually hear a hiss, whoosh or pop and again, black exhaust smoke. If this is glow plugs, is the only consequence of failure a difficulty starting in the cold or are there more serious consequences?

There is allegedly another EGRunit, where the take off pipe comes out from the exhaust - buried deep at the back of the engine. which is the internal lights, if there is no power to this fuse, it causes the glowplug light to flash.

Drove it a few times over the next day or so but only a few miles at a time, by 3rd day it still lacked a little power but no lights. You just put the clamp end on the pos battery terminal then put the other end on the end of the glow plug.
