In the 1980s, a three-episode VHS video was released. [4] The complete series was released onto DVD in 2018. As predicted!! I skimmed a lot of the book because every character was irritating in their own way and there was only a hint of a good plot underneath it all.
We’re making sure we’re not like every other separating couple. We know we will make it work.” Is she trying to convince herself? 😳 Jane's mother has died and she is emptying the house ready for sale. But the memories are difficult to deal with, as she had a very abusive father and she and her mother were delighted when he left and they were able to live their lives without fear. However, the memories resurface as Jane learns her neighbours Ashleigh and Evan also have a volatile marriage, and then she sees Evan digging a trench in their garden.I'm very happy with this arrangement. Sometimes I have ** twice a day. I get it with my neighbor in the morning and from my husband at night. What modern girl wouldn't love that? So why when moved into this has Jess received a threatening note? Who has sent this and why. Jess keeps having things happen to her and now people are not believing her is she going crazy? This book was a let down for me. I knew I'd have to suspend disbelief when I read the description (A divorced couple moving next door to each other with their new partner's to better co-parent when the ex-wife starts receiving threats). I admit the plot is ludicrous but I was intrigued.
Everything seems to be running smoothly for Jess until she receives a new home card with a viscous message. This is just the start of strange events that makes her think someone is out to get her. I loved the constant friction, the mysteries, the twists … all of it! What a great book. I was gasping, giggling, and on the edge of my seat for most of this compelling read. Just because it’s over between us, doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. My ex-husband and I still care for each other a lot, and we are determined to put our sweet little boy, Toby first. I was not sure what to expect when reaching for this book. It is my second blog tour for the year and the 7th book I have read. I am new to the author, so I opened this one without any expectations. What I found was a slow burn that made a sudden turn to the edge-of-your-seat stuff. What a brilliant surprise when I least expected it. I found the twist to be fairly predictable and even the final epulogue to be completely unbelievable. Honestly it took me longer to get through this book than it should have just because I never felt really invested in the story or cared what happened to the characters.

Jess and her ex have moved next to each other with their new respective partners. Not the most normal set up but this is for them to work as blending their extended family. Jane is clearing out her mother's house when she sees the neighbours next door arguing. She becomes worried when she sees the husband digging a trench in his garden, believing he is burying his wife. This is an amazing suspense story that weaves through past and present. A story of secrets, friendships, and the fallout of violence in the home. The author handles the difficult subjects of domestic abuse and alcoholism with great sensitivity, and if occasionally the reader feels 'cheated' because events weren't at all as originally portrayed, perhaps that is just reflecting life - we never really know what goes on in a marriage.
But I can’t pretend it’s all in my head when a false accusation is made against me that could destroy my life – and Toby’s – forever. Okay, let's start with how many twists this book had. I couldn't work anything out and didn't understand the full story until towards the end when it all came to light. This really kept me on the edge of my seat and added to the mystery of the storyline. An intriguing, entertaining book with everyone being suspicious, you can not trust anyone and with great characters driving the plot, it all makes for a compelling read. This is my first read by this author. I found the story premise intriguing- a divorced couple who want to coparent their son and get along so well they buy houses next door to each other? What could go wrong? Today we move into our new houses, right next door to each other. My ex-husband and me. He’s with someone else. So am I. What brilliant writing! I mean … what could go wrong when a divorced couple decide to live next door to each other with their new partners? HA! Ummmm, everything! There was suspense, drama, intrigue, terror, and tons of psychological warfare. The plot was fantastic, and kept me engage throughout the entirety of the book. It was very well written, and just flowed. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys a good thriller. Certainly recommended! I love the idea that we see may not be the whole truth or the truth being stranger than anything we could imagine!
I loved the friendship between Jane & Sheena it definitely gave off similar vibes of the bond their parents had. There were so many twists and turns in this book, it built a lot of suspense and I definitely didn't see the full picture until the end. In my personal opinion I think the ending was a little overdone and it overcomplicated the plot. And then Ashleigh disappears, and Jane catches Evan digging a grave-shaped trench in his garden – could something more sinister have happened in the house next door? Loved, loved, loved it!!!... A gripping, edge of your seat read to keep us guessing right up until the end!!... The plot twist was goooood!' NetGalley reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ But I can't pretend it's all in my head when a false accusation is made against me that could destroy my life - and Toby's - forever. The characters were so well developed. The author really built on their strengths and weaknesses throughout the story. I honestly felt like Jane was sabotaging her relationships, but eventually, I'm glad she saw some sense to salvage what she had despite her traumatic childhood. Also, can I just say it was refreshing to see that there wasn't just a male abuser in this story. There are women in real life who are abusive and controlling, so as horrible as it is, it's good to see that in a storyline too. What they don’t know is that they’re messing with the wrong person. And that hell hath no fury like the wife next door… When a couple divorce, they want to make sure their child isn’t affected by it. Both have new partners with children of their own and they buy 2 houses next door to each other so that they can continue to help each other out.
