Flooring – What type of flooring do you have? The models that we’ve listed above transition from hardwood floors to tiled floors or carpets with relative ease. You’ll want a vacuum with good suctions to get stubborn haris out of the carpet. With the bin removed you can unclip and pull out the separate filter canister from the cleaner. Inside is an innovative material filter made by Gore. It offers Allergy Foundation-approved HEPA-level filtration and features a self-cleaning system. Automatically following a few cleans, or manually using the Comfort Clean button on the cleaner, small prongs rotate inside the filter to dislodge dust into its canister. You simply open it up and tip out the dust every few cleaning sessions. So if you’re looking for a canister vacuum it’s Miele every time but if you want an upright then go with Shark. Plus if you like gadgetry you can open up the app on your phone and actually see a live stream of where it’s cleaning. Not particularly useful but goddamn is it cool. Shark make upright vacuums mainly so again have better performance than most of the Miele’s but comparable with the Blizzard CX1.

It’s nicely low for getting under obstacles and has a complete perimeter of castle-stepped brushes. Spreading your vacuuming power over such a big cleaning area suggests Miele is very confident in the suction power of the CX1. Adding Miele’s pet-centric rotating brush bar Cat & Dog floorhead to an already excellent tool lineup, the Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog PowerLine is arguably the most practical, versatile and best-performing model in Miele’s bagless cleaner range. It’s still a big beast for stairs, the small bin filter is messy, and the cable could be longer – but these are all minor niggles.

Miele Blizzard CX1 Comfort PowerLine: How does it clean?

Pulling up the bristles on the EcoTeq head and moving to carpets proved more of a challenge for the new Miele, but not one it couldn’t cope with.

Concentrating the suction on full power proved very effective at drawing particles out of deep grooves in our very old parquet, even if it didn’t cover the ground with the alacrity of the Twister XL head.

And that price is the price! Dysons are expensive, like really expensive, so if you can’t afford one or don’t want to spend that much on a vacuum then you’ll do great with the Miele. This is the latest and greatest of pretty much any robot vacuum cleaner, brand new technology allows for a more thorough cleaning of your house. Our carpet and hard-floor test results with this head were a replica of those achieved with the same head on the CX1 Excellence model. Simply put: superb cleaning right up to the skirting edge, with only a few heavier grains of test powder showing on the carpet after a single pass. Pictures of that test can be found here.

Henry Hoovers are similar in price to the basic C1 model but if you’re wanting a better vacuum it’s going to cost more for a Miele. It very effectively cleaned up a pile of spilled oats in a single sweep, giving it a perfect hard-floor test result in its own right. We ran the same test for our star Twister XL head and the results were just as good – only with wider coverage in a single sweep. Excellent. Without any rotating brush bars in the floor-heads, this model was always going to struggle with pet hairs wound into carpets. Sure enough, despite the exemplary suction and good design of the EcoTeq head, dog hairs hung on tenaciously to our carpets, simply becoming rolled into balls if you repeatedly vacuum over them. Vortex technology produces an enormous flow rate of more than 100 km/h. Combined with the specially designed airtight floorhead and the aerodynamic airflow, the bagless vacuum cleaner achieves a first-class cleaning performance. This ensures that coarse debris and fine dust can be separated highly efficiently. The coarse debris lands in the transparent dust container, while the fine dust goes into a separate container with a fine dust filter. So, that brings us to the end of our look at our guide to the best pet vacuum cleaners on sale right now.The Comfort PowerLine is supplied with outstanding tools for hard floors in particular, and is very easy to empty and keep clean. It’s rather heavy for stair climbing and it struggled with pet hairs on carpets, but Miele does offer a dedicated Cat & Dog pet-centric version of the CX1 too.
