There is an old gospel song with the lyrics, “Take me back/take me back dear Lord/to the place where I first received You. I wanted to succeed in expressing the emotions of the characters through sound, music and animation. If I had to compare it to anything I guess I would recite the works of Asano Inio (Oyasumi Pun pun guy). In North America, the manga has been licensed for English release by Seven Seas Entertainment, which is publishing it in a two-in-one omnibus edition, and the first volume was released in November 2020. What makes the story so good is both witnessing Miyamoto's ironclad passion for jazz and seeing how the characters around him react.

With all that said, blue giant still does a terrific job at depicting jazz music, it often spends pages or even an entire chapter depicting a performance.A second series, titled Blue Giant Supreme, was serialized in Big Comic from September 10, 2016, [9] to April 25, 2020. If you are as lost as I am, not knowing what the goal of your life is and living the same minimal routine. In North America, Seven Seas Entertainment announced the English release of Blue Giant in February 2020. It’s really very long and delicate, so it also allowed us to keep control over the quality of the image.

I would of course love this series to get an adaptation, film or anime, but I fear It may not give it justice. I didn't even perform all that well and was stuck on second violin (To those who get what I mean, will get what I mean when I say that lol), but without a doubt still loved music. The anime version, in the meantime, focusses on a liminal moment that the manga left behind many years ago – the day when Dai made the first big leap into a jazz career, and was stuck sofa-surfing around Tokyo while he hustled for a big break that actually paid money. Now you see, this is why this type of manga series would need an anime adaption is because I am not able to god damn hear what the main character Dai is playing like it felt in my head that he was only playing “epic sax guy” the whole time I’m seeing his performances.Which is why the music itself is often downplayed, while the appeal of these types of mangas is to see how music can affect people and their life. Despite that, this manga has the most memorable panels and is well-drawn in the most important moments.

Jazz is a genre I enjoy listening to, but like Dai, I love the fact that it's super intense and just so powerful. Si eres aficionado al saxo, al jazz o a la música en general, y al cómic, simplemente no puedes perdértelo. Although he gave a lot of failing marks to Dai's performance, he was invited to come to his house next time, and Dai willingly accepted. Je pense que pour les passionnés de jazz où ceux qui veulent en apprendre un peu plus sur ce style de musique ne devraient pas hésité à l’acheter !I also like that we aren’t told what the main character is rehearsing because it gives the reader a sense of freedom and lets you imagine his sound, because if you were to pull out a recording of Coltrane or Armstrong you wouldn’t hear the real him. The Japan Society hosted the premiere in New York on October 6, 2023, in advance of screenings at North American theaters on October 8 and 9.
