JOHN: We've found ourselves talking about iris scents again! Do you think that Prada L'Homme is a particularly iris-centered scent, and what would you say about it against other contemporary iris scents? Of course it's not a fair comparison because the 2017 bottles is opened since then, alcohol has evaporated a bit which made the pure fragrance oil concentration higher and some volatile top notes may have disappeared too. What it ultimately dries down to is an incredibly rich blend of mainly the iris and tonka bean. It’s so classy and smooth, with the leather and amber, being the next most powerful notes. As you may have heard there's a fair bit amount of discussion lately about Prada L'Homme Intense being discontinued. You have the typical L'Oreal batch code system (same as with Armani or YSL designer fragrances) - the "U" in 3rd place stands for 2021.

The powdery iris and the mix of woods, sweet notes, and leather are truly fantastic together. Not a super complicated fragrance in its development, but is definitely enjoyable throughout.

after a certain time, in which I could wear this fragrance now, I would like to present you my view of the things to this Beau. I'm noting: A great fragrance that has a little darkness and is much more flexible than its scent relatives and shines with an outstanding durability.

Prada L’homme Intense starts off with that familiar iris note, with its powdery aroma, and a warm amber plus smoothly rich leather. It’s very nice and has a noticeable darker profile than does the original L’Homme. I think I'll give it some more wearings and further comparisons to give you my final thoughts about it. JOHN: We've talked about the advantages of flankers in the perfume world. Here you think the original is more successful. What quality in the "Intense" made it go wrong? Why is L'Homme right as it is? JOHN: You’d given me Infusion d’Iris Eau de Parfum Absolue to smell, and it made a big impression. Do you think L’Homme (original or Intense) are related? How about Prada Amber? For example, John Varvato's Dark Rebel. Here the sweet aspect is never exhausting, although enriched with rum! There is simply enough counterweight to keep the ship from shaking.

Dark, Balsamic Scents in the Foreground

It’s really at this time, that I am reminded of Dior Homme and Dior Homme Eau, as L’Homme Intense fits right in line with that series. However, this is stronger on the iris and doesn’t have the leather to the same extent, nor any cacao. The overlap isn’t too extreme. When was the very first time that thing blew up my nose? Well, it was at the beginning of this year, and I was blown away... I personally thought that it would have been skipped because L'Oreal France (who has taken over the Prada fragrances from Puig Spain) didn't want to produce it anymore. And I want to mention, that when I asked at a perfumery if they have some bottles left and if they could look where they are made, the SA told me that the latest regular Prada L'Homme EdT which they've got is also made in France.
