Connolly, who has since turned his life in the opposite direction and published two autobiographical books, is the inspiration behind the protagonist in the moving film. The rest had all committed suicide in different ways and the other survivor was serving a double life sentence. It came out, after certain reporting restrictions were lifted at the Old Bailey, that St Leonard's was not just a home for children without a place to go, but paedophiles. He began working as a doorman for busy bars and admits he would get involved in altercations on the door. The book goes on and on in this vain, and although I am sorry for what Paul experienced in his early years, I cannot tolerate the way he has dealt with issues in later life, predominantly through violence.

And yet just two weeks later, the police turn up on his doorstep due to an incident of road rage whereby Paul assaulted an off-duty police officer. St Leonard's Cottage Homes was built around 1890, and began with trying to house 'pauper' children away from the workhouses.

In the film, the main character, Paul Connolly (played by Michael Socha), is forced to confront his demonds after the death of a childhood friend. Paul Connolly, who was illiterate until his 20s, has shared his harrowing story in a series of books. They have also added a new member to the family, Ralph, a Yorkshire Terrier who is just 12 weeks old.

When two police officers arrived out of the blue at Paul Connolly's door, he learned the shocking news that, out of the eight children with whom he had grown up in care, only two were still alive. It is a true testament to just what a character Paul has managed to become though, as through all the horrors in his story he also managed to make me laugh out loud on multiple occasions.Paul has had his third book published, Not Normal, and a movie is due to come out about his life, Six From Eight. The drama stars Brett Fancy as Bill Starling, a house parent who assaulted or raped 11 victims aged from five years old to 14 over a 20-year-period.

Paul has spoken of how the children would not go to school as they would be bullied following the abuse at the children's home, and instead would go and ride horses. Paul Connolly was just a two-week-old baby when he was abandoned in a dustbin after his mum suffered a breakdown. But - there's always that 'but' - I was still really glad that he got his happy-as-it-could-be ending.Big Boys Don’t Cry is set between Connolly’s childhood and his twenties, when he is released from prison and works as a bouncer. The visit from two police offi cers who told him that he and one other, out of his entire dormitory at St leonard’s were the only two left alive. The only downer on this book was I felt it repeated itself a bit too much in some areas - something an editor should've picked up on. He has found happiness with his wife and children and now helps to heal broken bodies, build confidence and transform lives - but he will never forget his past and the unnecessary victims of broken society. Abandoned at two weeks old, Paul came of age in the infamous St Leonard's Children's Home in East London.

In 2012, Connolly backed the Evening Standard’s literacy campaign, which raised money to send volunteer reading mentors into London schools to read with children. Here is a quick description and cover image of book Against All Odds written by Paul Connolly which was published in January 1, 2010.He’s brought up in children’s homes with horrific experiences, so some could say that he practises all that he has ever known. He also speaks publicly about his experience for Beanstalk, a charity giving literacy support to primary school kids, and is an expert witness in child abuse cases.
