Plastic kayaks are rotationally molded ('rotomolded') from a various grades and types of polyethylene resins ranging from soft to hard. Such kayaks are seamless and particularly resistant to impact, but heavy. In British English, the kayak is considered to be a kind of canoe. While technically understandable, in the North American sense this is not the case.

One time years ago a big cloud bank came over bringing with it a strong flukey wind. May 17, 2022On flat water with minimal wind, a skeg will help the boat run straight. If there's any wind, the skeg will anchor the stern, exactly the same effect as weighting it, and the bow will turn away from the wind. I've seen a number of people try to use a skeg to stop the boat turning away from the wind; it just makes it worse.
