I was really excited for this and I don't know exactly what I was expecting but this landed somewhere between disappointing and kinda good. If you can’t find mini flatbreads or naans, you can use a cookie cutter to cut larger ones into bite sized rounds. To you, Lunchables pizza might be an indicator of the industrial-driven cratering of childhood nutrition. Note: I got a lot of feedback from folks about the sauce having a ketchup-adjacent kind of sweetness. Lunchables is an American brand of food and snacks manufactured by Kraft Heinz in Chicago, Illinois, and marketed under the Oscar Mayer brand.

Many varieties including turkey, ham, sausage, hot dog and pizza still are sold in Canada but they are sold by Maple Leaf Foods under the name "Lunch Mate". Alternatively, you’ve got the option to assemble and bake an entire pita pizza ahead of time, then slice it into wedges and pack into your lunchbox. In 1997, Lunchables came under fire for having high saturated fat and sodium content while being marketed as a healthy children's meal. The main competitor that Oscar Mayer Lunchables has, is the Canadian powerhouse, Schneider's Lunchmates. We worked ONLY with what we were given on the Lunchables ingredient list, which is water, tomato paste, sugar, and <2% of modified starch, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, citric acid, spice, xantham gum, sodium benzoate, and potassium sorbate.

Until then, I believe the only Lunchables variety available were the cracker stackers (Turkey, Ham and Bologna…). It seems like every day I am finding another thing I have been doing wrong for the majority of my life. I like to use a cookie or biscuit cutter to cut mine into the classic lunchables circles, but you can also simply cut the pita into 4 wedges.I sometimes warm the bread and pack that in a thermos so that not all of the ingredients are super cold, but you may need to see what the kids prefer. We did throw some giardiniera on one of them (giardiniera is not elevated; I can get it at 7/11), and the oily, spicy kick does quite a thing to the overall effect.

Lunchables offers 30 different kinds of meal variety combinations, which include crackers, pizzas, chicken nuggets, small hot dogs, small burgers, nachos, subs, and wraps.I think kids will love it no matter what to be honest so I recommend just make sure you get them an actual pizza Lunchable as well because they/ you are going to want it after. Considers calories, saturated fat, trans fat, sugar, sodium, protein, fiber and fruit, vegetable and nut content to differentiate between healthful and less healthful foods. Veggies or meat: This lunchables recipe uses cherry tomatoes, green bell pepper and black olives for the toppings. The grated mozzarella (and cheddar, in the cheesy pizza iteration) is where American dairy meets the U.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Lunchables was designed in 1985 by Bob Drane, [6] Christine James, [ citation needed] Jeff James, Dave Wesolowski and Deborah Giarusso [ citation needed] as a way for Oscar Mayer to sell more bologna and other lunch meat. Environmental Impact: Contains pork, which has a higher carbon footprint relative to chicken, eggs and plant proteins. a b Michael Moss, Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us, Random House Publishing Group, 2013, pp.

Cons: small pieces may be too little for kids under 8 or so, all of the gummy stuff tastes the same except for the "sauce", and the gummy candies can be really tough to chew.
