This post was all about 17 horror lego sets to keep you an the family busy all year long, not just during spooky season. Now, go on, go build something! There are few shows out there that are able to combine horror and romance without losing something from each genre, and Mike Flanagan’s sophomore Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manoris one of them. The Haunting of Bly Manor doesn’t wimp out on scares nor does the relationship between Dani (Victoria Pedretti) and Jamie (Amelia Eve) feel cheesy or forced – instead the ghost stories and love story are intertwined into a single compelling narrative. Cabin in the Woods, is by far one of my favorite horror movies, simply because it dumps horror tropes on its head, in a good way. So when I came across this lego set, I immediately knew I had to add it to my horror Lego sets. Add a couple of little pumpkins and boom. Spook city. Halloween: Cindy throws Ghostface through a window, and when she goes outside, he’s gone. The same thing happened with Michael Myers. With Nia DaCosta’s remake on the way, now’s the perfect time to revisit the 1992 classic, which stars Virginia Madsen as a graduate student researching urban legends who summons an undead slayer, the Candyman, who was murdered in the 1890s by a lynch mob. Bearing a hook hand and followed by a swarm of bees, the Candyman (Tony Todd) is a horror icon alongside Jason Voorhees and Freddy Kruger, but there’s more to this movie. By shooting in and around Chicago’s Cabrini-Green housing project, the terror takes on a deeper social meaning.

John Carpenter’s The Thing is known for three things: impressively gross special effects, an evocative feeling of cold, and Kurt Russell’s perfectly feathered hair. Consider it a miracle that there’s no It Follows 2, 3, 4 or It Follows: Origins. David Robert Mitchell’s synthy, supernatural thriller is tailor-made for franchising and over-explanation: After having sex with a cursed young man, Jay (Maika Monroe) is stalked by a shape-shifting, demonlike entity whose purpose ... is never communicated. “It” just wants to kill the new infected target. Then the person before them. Then the next person in the viral chain. The only escape is passing the malicious force on through intercourse — an ethical quagmire. Set in a muted-hue version of Spielberg’s suburbia and invested in the teen perspective (as opposed to straight up slaughtering co-eds), It Follows is a tiny masterpiece, joyfully un-sequeled and unknown, that will have you looking over your shoulders as soon as the credits roll. —Matt Patches Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: In Cindy’s final fight with Hanson, she performs some special moves called things like Crouching Tiger, the Drunken Monkey, and the Camel Toe. Of course no Halloween movie list would be complete without John Carpenter’s Halloween. Taking place on Halloween night, it stars a 20-year-old Jamie Lee Curtis (in her feature film debut) as Laurie Strode, a babysitter being stalked by the mask-wearing, knife-wielding serial killer Michael Myers. It established Curtis as a scream queen, Carpenter as a horror auteur, and Michael Myers as a go-to Halloween costume. Kazaam: Drew (Carmen Electra) says it’s her favorite horror movie because Shaq’s acting is so scary.

Side guide

Air Force One: President Baxter (Leslie Neilsen) wonders at one point what President Ford would have done and glances up at a painting of Harrison Ford. Paranormal Productions: Fire Set: Go to the fire set and defeat the ghosts. When Polterkitty hides under the bench, flash it with the strobulb. Once defeated. follow it into the main room of the sets and use Gooigi to lift Luigi up to the rafters. Use the strobulb on it when it runs past. Monster Fighters is about as close to straight horror as LEGO has ever come, with an emphasis on the Universal monsters and everything that surrounds them. Though this line didn’t last quite as long as one might have hoped, it did leave behind some incredibly impressive builds that remain Halloween staples. If you’re looking for something that absolutely screams ‘Halloween’, you’re not going to be able to do much better than the Vampyre Castle. Rise of the Planet of the Apes: Dan works at a primate research facility where he’s trying to make apes smarter. It’s working with one ape named Caesar, who Dan takes home. This Caesar is smarter than the one in the real Apes, but less intent on freedom. The Ghostbusters movies all straddle the line between spooky and funny and tend to do so in a way that really allows fans of all ages to enjoy the films. If you’re looking for a good Halloween theme that’s still going to be fun for everyone, this build might be the one for which you are looking. Based on the more recent film in the franchise, this build features both the ECTO-1 ambulance and the ECTO-2 motorcycle, as well as the full cast of heroes from the film.

The House on Haunted Hill: There’s a lot here. For starters, its a big haunted house with a basement full of dusty rooms. The skeletons from the 1959 version are also referenced when Brenda laughs at one before popping its skull off. With Blade set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s worth remembering why Wesley Snipes iconic performance as the half-human vampire hunter is such a high bar to clear. From a Polygon essay on the subject: The great thing about Tim Burton’s stop-motion musical is that you can watch it anytime between now and Christmas and it’ll always be seasonally appropriate. The Sixth Sense and Minority Report: Cindy’s nephew Cody is a Haley Joel Osment–size precog who tells every random stranger what lies in their future. This haunted tree reveals an amazing digital ghost world when viewed through a smart device equipped with the LEGO Hidden Side AR app, so kids can solve mysteries, find cool items and battle ghosts! 3. Scary Lego Storage The Matrix: CJ’s Aunt Shaneequa (Queen Latifah) plays a version of the Oracle. She reveals info to Cindy about the tape and then gets into a fight with the woman in the video. Her husband Orpheus (Eddie Griffin) helps her. Hello, ghosts and ghouls! Welcome to my little cozy corner of the web, Booked and Bewitched, where we chat about all things horror, goth, and mystery related!

Drive to the Mystery Mansion on the motorbike; keep away from the man-eating plant and dodge the swinging morning star 12. Classic Paranormal Horror Lego Set Robin Hardy’s folk horror stars Christopher Lee as the leader of a pagan community that engages in ritual human sacrifice. Police Sergeant Neil Howie (Edward Woodward) receives an anonymous letter about a missing girl, and heads to a remote Scottish island called Summerisle to investigate her disappearance. He soon learns that the island’s inhabitants are covering up something, and believes that they plan to sacrifice her in a pagan harvest ritual. But he soon learns that she’s not the intended target — he is. Scream: Most of the plot is a Scream parody. The main characters mirror Scream’s and the film centers on figuring out who’s killing people while wearing a Ghostface mask. There are also a few direct references to Scream, including one character saying it didn’t have a plot and another saying their lives are just like Scream, “same dialogue and everything.” Polygon recently interviewed Trachtenberg about the sense that 10 Cloverfield Lane is a perfect film for quarantine. Asked whether the film was on his mind as social distancing measures were put in place, he replied, “I definitely was like, ‘I wish we had a bunker.’” Night of the Living Dead is streaming on HBO Max and Shudder . The Monster Fighters line definitely had a lot of really cool and creepy builds, many of which are perfect for Halloween. Though the line is probably best known for its buildings, some of those incredibly creepy builds were actually vehicles. If you’re a Halloween fan, you really can’t miss out on this hearse. With some pretty clear influences lifted from both The Munsters and Rob Zombie, this vehicle both stands out as an incredibly modern piece of the line and as one that is well-suited for Halloween decor. It’s not exactly scary, but it fits in with any kind of spooky aesthetic that you might want to create. Over four seasons, Staten Island’s most infamous vampires survived swinging guillotines at Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires, true death judgements of the Vampiric Council, dodgeball matches with werewolves, confusions of daylight savings, and the perils of introducing a child character into a successful sitcom. All without running out of blood to spill or legends to deflate. Based on the movie by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, FX’s What We Do in the Shadows’ is this decade’s Addams Family, with a rogue’s gallery of classic comedy influences.
