We did this, and the result was unacceptable picture quality (I can't say if this would have fixed the recording problems). As an option, is there any noticable degradation in sound if I just take the audio out from my TV (which is a one year old full HD 32" Panny with RCA out) will my AV amp still be able to decode the dolby if its passed through the TV? Recordings frequently stop at the first advert break espite the recording schedule showing the correct start/stop times.

The Humax is a lot less complicated to use than the much more expensive all-singing-all-dancing combined DVD/PVR alternatives - some of which only have single-channel receivers. That' why I was thinking of getting a Humax Freeview PVR, because my Humax Foxsat-HD Freesat box feels solid and does what it does well. Series record option saves having to remember to set it each day or week for a particular programme - a nice feature.Suddenly the Humax has started 'forgetting' all its series linked programs when it is switched back on. However, from a usability point of view we have no complaints about the Humax PVR-9150T, reaffirming the reputation the company deserves. If you decide to use Auto padding (ie start recording a few minutes early and continue past the end) then Series Link is turned off. My Humax PVR 9150T has been fantastic, but recently I have been having problems with it's recordings. Some mention that it's quiet on stand-by and quiet in operation, while others say that it was very noisy and spoilt the whole experience.
